APIM is the central brain for pretty much the whole sync system. If you have the ability to run forscan, you can pull codes. Check fuses just in case. Hopefully you're still under warranty, this is something a dealer will normally handle.

I wish I had that answer, the bill that I saw referred only to inspections. I don't think cops will ever pull you over for tint though, save for those who black out their windshield.

On a side note, us in NC will no longer have to worry about tint (hopefully) in the next year. Theres a bill on the block right now to remove tint check from inspections.

I definitely have the same noise on my brand new ecoboost. I found it somewhat annoying but didn't really have any concern over it. Just sounds like the piston drawing fluid through the master cylinder.
