I think that shortly after the MachE(1) was announced there was going to be a BOSS announcement. With the poor reception they decided to extend the GT350 life and figured it would be easy to use what was already developed for the new Bullitt and PPL2. Let's face it the Bullitt tweaks are great...
Fitting how? How is the best selling and one of the winningest sports car ever made, and nearly every year, being the one still standing the "big time underdog". It's making TONS of money. Of course it's going to stick around.
Trying to pretend that Mustang is somehow an underdog is IMO just...
1, Lulz as if google search results means anything. How many of those results are the Katy Perry song Dark Horse? Maybe that's it, really they don't wanna admit they just REALLY love Katy Perry.
2, literally don't care about that old ass story, heard it 5000000 times. If anything its still more...
Well as most issues end up being design/engineering problems the factory shouldn't matter at all.
Its why I laugh at people complaining the MT-82 is made in China. Sure, it's made there, but made to Fords engineers specs, and they met and passed Ford Q/A and testing. The parts that fail on them...
1) Never heard ANYONE ever say "gee so many people hated the mach1 (or boss) name when it came out, guess they were wrong".
They also made more sense. BOSS was also a term for something pretty cool, and Mach1, well is the speed of sound. THey are marketing terms but they also give you something...
I still believe the Fusion Sport should have been called Fusion SHO and that an updated Taurus SHO should have gotten a tuned version of the 400HP/400TQ 3.0T with closer to 450hp. Using the 3.0T in ONLY the MKZ made it a total sleeper NO ONE expects and super few knew about. Its not even got any...
To be fair no one knew the performance package on the Taurus SHO had upgraded internals that the police interceptor got until people started to tear the engines down and were like "wait why are these two motors different?"
Like I said.... sounds like a 13yo EdgeLord named it. The reason no one saw DH coming was because all its specs were expected to be in the GT based on rumors. It wasn't that they hid it, they just hid that it wasn't the GT that the info that was leaking was about.
As an internal Project name...
Thats not going to make a 20HP difference. There is no way they are making the power just an ECU change. That would make the DH utterly pointless for anyone that's not doing road racing, as anyone wanting to make over 1200wheel will be building the internals anyway making the rod upgrade...
Rods and cams are a bigger difference than a manifold that could be called "comparable" and an intake tube.
Also, the Boss had pistons, rods, compression ratio, camshafts, valve springs, crankshaft-sensor trigger-wheel and manifold over a normal GT. There was a reason the BOSS engine was given...
Which has nothing to do with my statement, but if you wanan go there, yeah it was faster, but it also costs thousands more than a SS 1LE could be had for the same model year. is it faster enough to justify that price difference? Not to me.
I feel that way about the last Mach1. Calling the MachE the Mach1 was a massive flub, and the PPL2 engineers said the suspension was aimed at a "boss level car". The GT350 was selling well, so they kept it around till they could scrap together a Mach1 out of what they had around.
1. A Bullitt...
