Your Chance Is Coming: 2027 Mustang GTD Applications Open on April 17

“If you don’t try, you’ll never know.”

That’s not just a motivational saying. It’s true of Mustang GTD ownership, too. Your next chance to apply to order the first car from an American automaker to lap the Nürburgring in under seven minutes is coming up.

To help celebrate the 62nd birthday of the Ford Mustang, Ford will re-open the application process for the Mustang GTD supercar on April 17.

The Ford Mustang GTD is the most advanced, powerful, and audacious Mustang ever, featuring the latest in active aerodynamics and race-based innovation, including a supercharged 5.2-liter V8.

Prospective Mustang GTD owners can visit Ford.com now to register their interest. The Mustang GTD Concierge team will send a reminder email to handraisers shortly before the application window opens, with status updates following this summer.

This round of applications will cover the next three years of production. Once approved, applicants will work with the Ford Mustang GTD Concierge team for a personalized purchase experience.

In the coming weeks, we’ll release additional details on Mustang GTD and share more about what’s to come in 2026.

Sunday, my club was at the Allentown, PA auto show, and a new guy showed up with his new GTD. It is quite amazing up close. It looks just like mine, Shadow Black, but that's just about where similarities ended. Glenn

Sorry! I should have included a pic yesterday! The owner is standing by the right front! Lucky guy!

An interesting note about the GTD. Notice the flat space on the running board behind the wheel well? It is a collector of everything that comes off the wheels because of the vents in the fenders. The owner, after arriving and after a short jaunt, had to use a blower to remove all the debris from the running boards. I don't know if the blower came with the car, but it was painted the same color as the brake calipers. Glenn

It’s a very cool car and impressive for a Ford Mustang. But there are many other cars I would want for the same money.

If I had unlimited funds, I would definitely buy one!

With the upgraded version of the GTD spied yesterday running around the 'ring in production ready form, I'm kinda hoping that means Ford's gonna reveal that soon, hopefully with a better lap time.

Think I’ll register just to see if I “qualify or am Worthy”!! SMH, most people can qualify for a Home Mortgage in some form or fashion but I’m sure that this isn’t the same. Lmao!!!

Yesterday, not by Ford, just by an independent channel that films vids of cars testing on the 'ring. It has the same areo disk wheels and front canards as earlier prototypes we saw for the faster GTD, but looked far more polished. It didn't have like the prototype tape all over it, looked closer to a production quality car.

So this particular vid is about 3 hours old. The blue GTD Evo, that's just what I'm calling it, is the first car in the vid, and then you see a black version later on in the vid as well. So they're running multiple of these upgraded prototypes at the 'ring right now.
