In my opinion the DH hits the sweet spot in the S650 line up. Going DH gets you the tremic for manuals and other small upgrades that add up. Price is close when I built out a GT S650, but much cheaper than the DH SC. While I know the SC does have more suspension upgrades and other things the big thing is the SC. Also the DH SC is automatic only. Not hating on any of the other S650s. For me the DH just hits that sweet middle ground. Is this what drove other DH owners to purchase when comparing or thoughts now after purchase?

The DH SC is a DCT - dual clutch transmission. Far from the tq converter 10R80. Drive one and you will be very impressed like the GT500 of last gen. They are awesome to drive.
I agree the DCT is fast and very different from the 10R80. I drove a used GT 500 from the last gen and a new C8 stingray. I was leaning towards C8 while my wife preferred the mustang on the test drives. What sold me on the mustang was the manual and sounded better against the C8. If the DH came automatic only for me then it when have been the C8 instead.

I went with a DH because I wanted a true manual again. The DCT, believe it or not, is not automatic. Yes, it shifts like an auto, but its premise is based on a manual.

That said, I wanted a true manual; I wanted to row gears again, like when I had my GT350. My GT500 was fast for sure, but the paddle shifting felt like a round on Grand Tourismo. The GT350 as great as they are, I did not want to deal with another engine problem like my 17 GT350. Finding a 19 or 20, at a reasonable price was proving fruitless. So I turned my head towards the S650.

The Dark Horse fit the bill. 6-speed Tremec, handling package brought the upgrades to suspension and wheels. In essence, it is a reborn GT350. The 4th-gen 5.0 has everything you need, and the DH brought a few more upgrades to its internals. Add some aftermarket pieces to the suspension, power, and aero, and you get a very capable machine.

My version of this: Also see the Darkhorse WarHorse thread for details.

A DCT shifts automatically. In what world is it not considered an automatic?

That's some serious cope.
I would have you go look up what a DCT is. I say again, or rather I will state it with more explanation, a DTC is an AUTOMATED MANUAL TRANSMISSION that functions as an automatic.

It is the same for a PDK, an M-DCT, and various other styles of transmission.

Correct. Its an automated manual without a clutch pedal or stick shift.

I saw your build post and read it the other day. I have the 700A handling package with the 6 speed. I won't go nearly as far as you have. I have been back and forth on if I even want to SC mine. I have the money to pay for it and had every intention of doing it at Lebanon Ford after purchase, but after driving it I am not sure anymore. I am enjoying the car as is for now. I do really like the look of the SC hood though. If that becomes orderable I will most likely purchase it. If there is a cosmetic grip I have with the DH is that the hood isn't different enough from a standard GT. Knowing about the SC now though I am sure it was all planned out prior to release to help the SC standout more.

Thanks!

I agree, the SC hood does look nice. The GT4 hood beyond the CF, is very breathable on the track and helps keep temps down. The SC, well, I decided I wanted the power my GT500 had. When I had a GT350, I had it on the corn, but felt I needed more power. For the road courses, it was fine, but I also like the 1/4. This time, I decided to find the sweet spot and just do it. The Steeda bits are designed to help keep the car planted under power and perform on the road. It also helps in a straight line. :) Oh its going to be fun.

I would go so far as to say a DCT is a modern pre selector gearbox with auto shifting.

Agreed. They are nice and it was fun in my GT500, but it lacked something......shifting with the paddles felt like a round of Grand Tourismo on my PS5.

This !! The reason why I went with a DH. I wanted to row gears again. For a performance vehicle, nothing replaces it.

I thought the same, by the time I configured the GT premium with performance pkg, and the opinions i wanted it was close enough to the Dark Horse in price to go for it.

I couldn't find a DH with manual in the spec I wanted (black, no vinyl, HP, premium, recaros), so I settled for the auto, but I still feel like I would have regretted getting another GT, as I have owned 3 now back to back, but I really wanted to stay in a Mustang. I considered used GT500, and even GT350, but I have an issue buying older cars, older tech, and being without a warranty. I know from personal opinion, that for what I paid, there was no better option, trim or car to get that would have satisfied me the way the DH does. I will say, I'd love to have the hood from the DH SC. I feel like they should have changed the hood out for the DH lineup. So far, every person who has approached me about the DH, they think I've modded it. That says a lot to me.

Unless you're in F1 or nearly all forms of circuit racing, rallycross and rallying.
Tenths of a second count and DCT's etc save time.
