I have become concerned about the data being transmitted to Ford and god knows what they are doing with it. I decided to disable the telemetry thru the fuse box. The #8 slot is telemetry but it is a 3 prong fuse that impacts #9 the parking brake. I changed it out to a 2 prong that only affects telemetry. (I used a blank fuse from#10). The pictures are not in order. The only impact is the Ford app does not work, and I cant use the app to start the car, lock/unlock, or identify location, all of which I am OK with.

They're selling the info to interested third parties, one of which are insurance companies who use the identifiable data to jack up your car insurance.

Good to know this is a simple fix. I wonder if this also disables OTA updates. Not a big deal though.

I'm not so sure about who does what with the data, but is you have a smart phone, no matter what brand, you're already followed!

Yes, this will disable OTA's. You can just go into the settings and turn data sharing off. There is no need to go full excommunicado, but to each their own.

You can also unplug your telematics control unit. It has three plugs iirc, it's in the trunk, behind the liner on the driver side, kinda between the wheelband tail light. Everything worth having still works fine, wireless Android Auto, Maps, etc. All I noticed is my car wouldn't connect to my home wifi anymore and you'll obviously lose stuff like remote start or lock and unluck with cellphone. I don't have remote start period and nobody needs access to my car without the keys.
