Hi all,
I juspurchased a 2025 Mustang GT with the 10R80, and have since put 2,500 miles on it… since I can remember ( which I believe is day 1) I have experienced an almost “stu tu tu” noise when downshifting with the paddle shifters. Typically it’s best heard when i’m next to a curb, or another vehicle, but I just want to be sure it’s a “normal” characteristic, as I know these cars are noisy. Any input would be appreciated
also.. before you ask, i have attempted to video, but all it does is pick up wind noise which helps none of us.

Do you mean a noise from the mufflers or somewhere else? Because if it's from mufflers it's normal mine does that burble sometimes. Like a brap brap.

No, it’s more of a “stututu”. it’s rythmic. it almost sounds like a whirring noise.

.....the10R80 design/development was a joint Ford/GM venture. The 10R80 is very robust because it has straight cut gears that said there is a distinct whine if you are near an area that will allow reverberation. This noise is in no way a fault or mechanical problem - it's only a problem if you don't like the sound.

I just want to be sure that the noise
im hearing isn’t premature failure. I have a warranty on the vehicle, however I plan to keep this vehicle forever and would not like to deal with issues upon issues because things get passed by as “normal”.
That being said, the noise im hearing is very distinct on downshifts, and if someone else has the issue they know the sound i’m talking about. (if it’s normal)

I also understand the whine, and actually I enjoy that… I am just hoping that’s the noise im hearing and not something that’s rythmic, maybe it’s just tires turning causing it to sound rhythmic but I have no clue.

So the noise is not coming from the mufflers "rear" of vehicle? Im guessing your meaning no it's not. So the only time I've noticed a noise is when in reverse, i get a whine or whirring. I'll listen very intently when I downshift next drive and report back. :inspect: . What drive settings do you typically use and hear it or is there in all the modes >StitchS650?

I only hear the noise im talking about when in manual mode, any drive mode, as it rev matches it’ll make what almost sounds like a blowoff noise, but it’s not a blow of noise. it’s just a rythmic sound. i’ll try to catch a video again this evening and report back.

I have an AT10, use the manual mode all the time and don’t recall having heard such noise.
You might want to show it to your Ford dealer.

@StitchS650 ..... understood and completely reasonable. Go to your dealer and have them listen to it AND open a case number ...... my friend did that with what he termed a transmission noise on his 2024 GT and got a service department receipt with a service case number. He has had no problems at all so far but has the peace of mind that a "concern" has been registered with Ford. At first his dealer said - "Don't worry we'll make a note." He said "No thanks, I want a case opened, if you want to charge me for diagnosing this issue - fine, BUT I want a receipt from your service department that this issue has been diagnosed and recorded". For your peace of mind I recommend you do the same and FWIW I agree with you and I would do that too. Good luck.

Went for a long drive this morning and I didn't notice anything remarkable. Nothing out of the ordinary. I do hear an exhaust burble often. But no blow off type of noise. Take to dealership have it checked for peace of mind. Good luck with it :fistbump:

thank you all, will report back once it’s made note of at the dealer, which probably won’t be until i get my next oil change in about 1500 miles. Like I said, it’s done it since day 1, car screams and it doesn’t make any clunking noises whatsoever. just the almost “metallic rythmic scrape” intermittently when downshifting. I can really only hear it with the windows down, music off next to a wall or passing car, it’s on a full warranty so at least that’s there🤷🏽‍♂️

Yeahhhhh kinda… I guess I don’t really have an understanding of what a true normal “whirring noise” is but the best way i can describe it, is upon downshifting, when it rev matches, and it’s typically more prominent between 5-4 and 4-3 than anything, and sometimes even when accelerating at higher RPMs… if i’m next to a curb/wall/passing car, it’ll almost put out a sound like a “few few few” rythmic flutter, and it’s only for a few seconds at a time, then it goes back to just me hearing normal engine noise. When i first heard it i told my buddy “it sounds like a turbo flutter” and that was at about 600 miles on the odometer, so like i said it’s been an “issue” or noise i’ve been hearing, and hasn’t gotten worse.
