I have tried dozens of recommendations from several sources. And as usual, no tangible solutions. The issue is whether Ford has not updated the Sync 3 to be compatible or whether Apple dropped the ball when building iOS 26 and forget to include being capable of working with Sync 3. Hopefully, it would get resolved soon, but I worry about the trend of car makers cutting out Apple and Android interfaces so that they can lock in their high dollar navigations systems and their subscription services. Lord help us if Ford tries something like GM did.....

Yeah, I don't know if it's going to resolve the issue or not, but it never hurts to keep things updated.
It could be a problem with Ford's implementation of CarPlay also. My car is in storage for the winter so I can't check, but Ford does update Sync from time to time as well. Not something I've done on the Mustang yet, but have on several other vehicles I've owned. It's not especially fun to update IMO.
Crapped out on me again today. iOS update did NOT fix the problem.

I have been running 26.2 for several weeks and still have the issue. I did find if I cycle Bluetooth and WiFi it usually reconnects and issue is resolved
Simply cycling Bluetooth did it for me. Thanks for the tip.

I love paying $65k for a car where I have to cycle shit because of software bugs Ford can't be bothered to address. Fix your shit Ford.

The change occurred with an iOS update not a Ford update.

Mines been broken since before iOS 26. My iPhone works just fine every time on my Honda CRV (which I drive way more). It works just fine on my Subaru w/ an aftermarket pioneer deck that hasn't seen an update in 3+ years. I switched back to an android phone for a bit and that worked. I've wiped my iphone, deleted the car, reset sync (which is also horrible to use and laid out poorly), it's still not reliable.

There's absolutely no reason Ford can't work with Apple to get it resolved, if it is an issue on apples side.

Due to an unrelated phone issue where it was erroneously sending people to voicemail and not delivering texts, I did a network reset on my phone to resolve that issue. It’s been two weeks and it has totally fixed all the CarPlay problems I’ve been having. Might be worth a shot for anyone having problems.

iPhone: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset → Reset → Reset Network Settings
