I can understand the need for a GT, but I don't know why the troopers need the PP.
- Better cooling
- bigger brakes
- better suspension
- better wheels and tires
- just an all around better package for safety and stability at speed, allowing law enforcement not only to chase, but to better avoid crashes while doing so.

There is always risk in chasing, but it is best to minimize the risk where possible. The PP helps accomplish this important public safety goal.

Not trying to start a debate. If a given State Police agency is going to outfit their fleet with special purpose vehicles such as the Mustang they should opt for the PP. The officers who risk their lives driving these Mustang's in high speed pursuits deserve the upgraded handling and braking the PP options provides. Drivers who by no choice of their own end up in the middle of these chases also deserve this upgrade.

High speed pursuit policy's vary from agency to agency. As a general rule (w/caveats) State agencies have more freedom to pursue and PIT etc.. I like most do not want to see innocent people hurt or killed in high speed pursuits. On the other hand, we cannot just stand back and allow this type of activity to continue with no consequences to the perpetrators. There is risk in everything we do or don't do.

Well … not in my “5.0” owning career as of yet and I do push the Speed Limit but I’ve never been in the “Criminal” limit area (+20 or more) because I know better and I respect the Officials and people that are also traveling. On my commute to the Plant, either morning or evening, I feel like I’m on the final lap cause I try to stay out of the fast lane and middle as well. They only drive with the accelerator pedal to the Flor and you can hear when their cars/truck upshifts, they make sure to punch down harder and keep it at WOT!!!

But on the speeding, I can only recall 1 infraction and that is it.
Me too but I feel like our numbers are coming up, LOL! What a prize to give a 5.0 driver a speeding ticket while driving a 5.0. If speeding tickets slowed down drivers, it wouldn't be insane out there. I think it's just a matter of time before there is a disaster out there, driver training or not. Just my opinion.

Wow.

I cannot say the same. I hit 20 over accidentally all the time when I am merely trying to drive, not speed at all.

This is why I try to use cruise control wherever possible, to keep me within a reasonable speed range.

I'm sure the police chasing people at 150mph in traffic can't end up with something bad happening 🙄. Just get a helicopter with a good thermal camera and actually prosecute criminals when you catch them. This just smells like inappropriate budget spending on toys.

The people saying that 'they should not chase, no clout' etc etc dont realize how bad this problem is in NY right now.

I have personally been in the car while it was hit by one of these swimmers. Its mobilizing an entire group of degenerate morons on social media to attempt to recreate this. I rarely was able to drive through the belt parkway, Taconic, etc, without some moron trying to do the same as these idiots on tiktok and insta.

License, squeeze, and any other of these idiots are genuinely the worst of the worst trash. I would love to see them get thrown into a ditch by a trooper and taken.

Wait - there is a social media trend to film yourself running from the police and then post the evidence?

Yes. Its called swimming. It started as early as 2014 or '15ish specifically in NY, but has recently become more popular and spread to a metric f^ckload of idiots across the country. I saw it really blow up in popularity around 2021 with the "Team Macksauce" page which compiled all the videos of people crashing while cutting up in the parkways around the city. Then Squeeze Benz, Q70, License, and a number of other guys started gaining traction for making repeated content of it in new gen M3's and M4's. What was one off videos from no names was now a view/clout printing machine for some idiots in balaclavas.

THEY'RE NOT EVEN GOOD AT DRIVING. THEY JUST HACK AWAY AT THE WHEEL WHILE THE ASSISTS DO EVERYTHING FOR THEM. Theres a reason you only see them in super high end German cars and not, say, a Camaro, or a solid rear Mustang. Those actually take some common sense to not immediately spin into a wall.

Recent video I saw had one of the dudes in a 2010's Porsche that had a stickshift. Every single shift was slammed and the clutch dropped. Downshifts were forced in and, likewise, clutch dropped. No rev matching, no precision, just driving like an idiot around traffic. Absolutely zero skill whatsoever, ruining the transmission, and all the comments are glazing the dude saying he drives so well.

Absolutely zero skill from these folks.

So they are not doing this at 4-5:00 a.m. when almost nobody is on the road, like that Swedish guy years back, but out in crowded traffic?

I cannot believe I was totally unaware of this trend.

They do it a lot during and around rush hour traffic. They want the traffic to be packed just enough to squeeze their car through little gaps. It makes for good clips, and also police can't really chase in those conditions. Its their perfect conditions.

And of course they still end up getting into accidents on occasion, sometimes even with eachother.

Most clips I see around are in the afternoon.

The odds of a deadly crash goes through the roof when cops start to chase. I am guessing they have D.O.T. camera's all over these hwys. Use that video, along with cellphone triangulation and good investigators who also know how to look on social media to figure out who the idiots are. Arrest them and throw the book at them to set examples. Impound and take the cars for auction.

Imagine how fast that trend would spread through the facistbook and idiotgrams .. .
"COPS JUST TOOK MY CAR AND ARRESTED ME" :crying:

I am glad I don't live in these horrible area's , and feel bad for those of you who do. I personally would rather the cops not chase and bring up the danger to innocent people by 10 fold. I guess it's a matter of opinion , but I value life over ego. Speeding is not punishable by death, or collateral damage and civilian casualties. Use camera's , radios , and good sense.

Cops buying race cars to race bad guys on public roadways, is the definition of two wrongs don't make a right. imo.

I dunno bro, I think cops with Mustangs is awesome. I've been swooning over those old CHP Foxbodies for years now.
