OK thanks. If I ever get one (a Mustang) I still think Whipple is the way to go for me. Probably Stage 2.

not being a wiseguy, I just am not familiar with it. Why would anyone do one of these instead of a whipple. With some options it only a couple of grand cheaper and can't have the research and development that Whipple has. How about any warranty? None I would guess.
ESS has a long history with boosting BMWs. They were a (very) small shop in Norway back in 1995, then sales exploded. When they opened a sales center in California about 20 years ago, sales took off again. They opened a manufacturing facility in Arizona and moved marketing and sales there, too.

They have a decade or so already with the 2015 and up Mustangs.

Rocketman,

The Whipple is obviously an option. But lots more moving parts and much more dis- and reassembly is needed for the Whipple. Lots of tubing, hoses, intake manifold has to come off, etc.

An ESS or Procharger (centri) is simpler and while they can take about the same amount of install time (Whipple vs Procharger for example), you have far fewer moving parts and sub-systems with a centri.

I have both, a Procharger on a 2018 GT and working on getting a trouble code figured out on my 2024 GT with a Whipple.

ESS makes a very well known and proven product and from what I have heard is the easiest of all kits to install.

This is a 6th Gen Mustang, 120mm pulley, no asphalt prep, but drag tires.

"So I got my new drag wheels mounted up , went an attempted 1/4 mile dragy pass. I just stopped in road did a very very soft launch in 2nd gear. About 100mph the car started shaking pretty bad and kept getting worse so I let out little after 1/8 mile. Pull over and the tire shop forgot to balance the wheel/tires. So I took back to them and all is good now. Hopefully I'll be able to do another hit tomorrow as it's raining here today. This is on 7.5psi 120mm pulley and e30 full."

Notice how quickly he reaches 120mph. About 8 seconds? And this is on the street. It looks like he sways back and forth a little around 60 mph.

5.8 seconds to 100 mph

ESS still shows "Coming Soon!" for S650.

Centrifugal SC build boost with rpm so if you want to limit boost you can avoid revving it past the rpm that produces the amoubt of boost desired. A tuner can set the rpm limiter where you want it to be. If you want boost to come in sooner get a smaller pulley and set up the rpm limiter accordingly. Keep in mind that when you upshift the boost will drop so you need to find that sweet spot to keep you going.
I have also discovered the Smooth Boost Controller since then. @robvas (I think) made me aware of it.

Also, DRP thought, "Hey, hold my beer, I am going to put this on a tired Coyote with 90,000 miles and shoot for 800 wheel horsepower!"

Apparently, the Smooth Boost Controller has other benefits. In addition to lowering or raising boost from inside the cabin, it smooths out power delivery based on accelerator pedal input to keep boost from feeling like an "on-off switch." The video below is the Procharger, but same idea, and this guy added a cheap potentiometer to slow full boost from 70% pedal to 100% pedal. In other words, his Procharger is not delivering 100% boost unless he has the pedal mashed 100% down on the floor. Pretty cool, huh? It seems that this would make things much more predictable and easier to drive.

Anyone got updates on ESS kits? One YouTuber received it few weeks ago but hasn’t installed it yet. So thinking should I wait for ESS anymore or just go with Whipple? Cos I haven’t seen them sending kits to who are already on waitlist here or no update from anyone who’s received ESS kits.

Appreciate this video man have seen this before. The only reason I waited this long is cos I drove a buddy’s GT 2020 on ESS n loved it and been waiting for new kits. But since the launch it’s been more than 6 months n kits not received or we don’t have any updates or enough data (apart from test car) it’s very disappointing sorry to say. I definitely appreciate they taking time to build us best quality kit but they should also keep in mind people not gonna wait FOREVER.
