@Ewheels ..... just buy a base ecoboost and take it to a shop .... have them put a twin turbo on it. That is the closest you will ever get to what you want. No way will Ford ever make a mini version of the present Mustang platform with the specs you want. They'd be lucky to sell 10 of them - and they know that. People who want what you describe grab WXRs. As far as cheaper than a base ecoboost ..... nope, never.

Mr. Farley has missed the opportunity to make more money for the company by bringing the China made Mondeo/Taurus Sedan into the USA. GM approach to their China made cars was to import them under Buick brand and they are making money with that move. Jim did pull in the Lincoln Nautilus from China, but not the Mondeo/Taurus? I guess he wants Toyota (his former employer) to make more money on the sedans and own that segment of the market with Camry and Corolla.

I have to disagree. Toyotas recipe was exactly right. It was never intended to be a powerhouse, it was designed to slide. They even put eco tyres on the thing to reduce grip.
What was exactly wrong was the hole they put in the torque curve. Pottering around up to 2500rpm was fine, nailing it at 6000 - 7500 was fun, the midrange was crap.
There are N/A 4's that don't have that problem

I guess affordability is in the eye of the beholder. Down here the Mustang we get is a bargain.
If I had bought the 2025 Cupra Formentor, specced how I wanted it, (like the Mustang) it would have been a $NZ100k plus car with 333hp. In fact, the current limited edition with my spec and extra goodies is $NZ110k, nearly DH money.
The Mustang GT cost $NZ93k. Can't beat that.

He's mentioned on multiple occasions that he wants to do a sedan as an affordable EV, but one that's sporty, performance oriented, and RWD instead of being a generic blob. This would utilize the same affordable EV platform as the 30k EV maverick sized truck that's coming out.

I'd call it Galaxie personally. This blue Chinese ev sedan is incredibly popular, it starts at around 30k, and sells about 15-20k units a month in china, or so I've heard. Jim Farley, Ford's CEO, has one as his personal car and loves it. The super high performance model did well under sub 7 at the ring as well, so it's really fast.

Something like this, but with Ford muscle car styling to differentiate it would be brilliant at like 35k.

I am all for more "fun to drive" sedans EV or ICE propulsion. What is amazing about Ford is that in 1978 product offerings (picture cut attached) they had many models an if we convert the most expensive T-Bird price with inflation in mind we see that ICE cars today in the 40-50K range are way better and safer. Also if we add material and labor cost increases over the 47 year period cars today are almost the same price.

It is bad that Ford killed products like the Taurus-SHO or Fussion, Fiesta, the Ford-Edge with claim they could not make any money on those vehicles. Look at Kia, Hyundai or Toyota how come they can offer sedans and make a profit selling them?? Is it just me, but I think the SUV and pickup market is saturated with so many offerings that 4-door sedans could be fresh come back if the design and pricing of these sedans is well positioned in the Kia/Toyota sedan price range. We just have to wait and see??

Yeah I know they're fast, but where's the drama? When the dealer fired up the Mustang demo I was 50% hooked, What's a Hyundai dealer going to do? Say, just listen to this whine?
It'd be like listening to someone humming Nessun Dorma after Pavarotti had just sung it.

Yeah I get it and agree with what you’re saying. That’s why I was saying it would have its own little following.

Maybe the idea is interesting to me because it’s not the same “let’s call it a Mustang!” crap we’ve been hearing from the same small group of people.
