Wow. And apparently and evidently this is from the factory the way it’s made. I just came to Ford and was shown the exact same tank cover in a brand new car. !!!! This is normal. Not a crack. Well dang!!!
Yep its a crack in the upper half of the tank for sure!
It's not leaking because the coolant is in the bottom half of the tank.
DXM you need to look a little closer at the second picture.

No it’s not a crack. I stand corrected. I was at a Ford dealership today, and I asked to show a brand new mustang GT. SAME exact seams. It looks broken, but it’s not.

Again I was convinced my tank was cracked. Then the service supervisor said it’s supposed to look this way. I thought he was lying, as it made no sense. And sure enough a brand new car looked exactly like mine. Sane random round “crack” lines. Which are not cracks. I’ve never been so confused. 🤔

yeah odd lines create confusion, plastics molds stress and all that stuff but don’t bury the lead…

Yeah, I had a few stripped wires that were fixed yesterday. I can't figure out if it's from rodents, because I've used the mouse repellent tin for several years now. I glue it under the hood on top of the battery cover. If it's not rodents, then it could have been from chafing.

I looked at mine and all it has is mold seam marks. Most likely what the OP has.

Wow. This was discovered many moons ago on the S650 24's. It was discussed quite extensively. Conclusion was mold seams. One can find the same type seams on some headlights/tailights.
