I just don't have the empathy for the laziness. You wanna make it in this world, you better get out there and hussle. I had my first child at 16, 2nd at 18, 3rd by 20. I came from a lower middle class single dad.

I don't wanna hear "wah wah houses cost to much" sure, but I can find you 10 condos, 10 townhomes tomorrow that are under 100k to buy in the houston area, and If you have even a little skill I'll find you a 60k job. You can easily afford a house under 100k on 60k. You don't make excuses in life, you just figure out what works for you and get it done.

Other things, if you starting out get your bills as cheap as possible. No you don't need an iphone, you just need a cheap pre-paid phone, etc, etc. Anyone can go work for Autozone and in 2-3 years be a store manager making 60-80k/yr. You literally need no skills to start at autozone and it's a decent company to work for.

But this idea that it's just not possible today, i call BS on. My son in law is doing it, 3 kids, store manager at autozone, bought his house for 120. Oh yeah, child tax credits help, that tax return of his is phat. You gotta be smart and play the game well.

learn how to invest properly
learn how to manage a household budget and stick to it.
learn who Jesus is, and how life will be misery without him. (Romans 10:9)

here's the deal. Life is full of pain. You can either have the pain of discipline now, or the pain of regret later. Your choice.

But what I'm not going to do, is give self-centered, selfish, godless, entitled, lazy generations excuses of why to go sit on their butts. Who cares if big houses are 400k, don't buy one, but cheaper. You want cheaper? buy a single or double wide and buy a small plot some where.

I have a friend who started from nothing and started an HVAC company after working for another for 5 years. He started with nothing, no skills, they trained him, everything, he now clears over 1m a year.

I have another friend that is a welder, works at the boat yards, clears 200k/yr, another bud owns a plumbing business and yet another owns a roofing company. ALL started from nothing. Just had the hustle to get it done.

So yeah, i call BS on all these excuses people are making. We have a saying in Houston, it's "If you don't have a job it's because you don't want one".

But crying out loud stop thinking working at some retail place is the way to start out! Retail jobs suck, get a trade and goto town. Learn it, live it, breath it, work somewhere for 2-5 years and start your own business. It's not rocket science. Anyone with a hustle attitude can be a millionaire in 8-10 years.

This is freakin' America.
That’s what I’m talking about, ol’ son. I want to be on your team. That’s how this country was built & rose to where it is in just 250 years. Our DNA is no different than all the other peoples from the other cultures of the world that are thousands of years old, yet somehow, we have risen to the top. Hard work. Individualism. Freedom. Our Constitution that has protected our rights. Belief in a higher power bigger than ourselves. I have advanced degrees in medicine (ie, highly educated) but I’m in awe of people that can build & fix things. I’m not above them. When “it” hits the fan, they will survive better than most of the over-educated idiots. Let’s roll!

Everything you're saying makes sense, and I've followed a lot of this advice myself. But step one is finding that job in the first place. And I'm not gonna lie - a lot of jobs out there are flat out not responding to most applicants, even qualified ones. It's not possible to get a job if the employers aren't even giving you an opportunity in the first place...

Like I said, I'm not experiencing this, but a lot of people I am close to are. And I would not call them lazy in the slightest.

We need a rebalance.

The only ones I've heard that are not responding are all the BS retail jobs. Nearly any Autozone or o'reilly autoparts hire because they generally have higher turnovers because kids don't want to show up, but if you show up you can advance pretty quickly. But other retail, just sucks.

My point is that ALL of the trades are hiring. Welding onshore and offshore, Fitting, Fab shops, auto mechanics, crane mechanics, diesel mechanics, nearly all the plants are hiring, oil and chemical, in that industry alone is all kind of starter positions great way to make a bunch of money over 2 years and then do something, Honey trucks (porta potty cleanouts, don't laugh the pay is insane because not many wanna do it), auto body shops, pretty much any plumbing or hvac is super easy to get into most will send u to the school for training AND do a signon bonus, on and on and on, the trades have massive shortages and is where the money is at. FORGET RETAIL, it's 99% crap, don't pay crap and are not careers. Business servicers like uniform companies (thinking Unifirst, Cintas) actually do a lot more than just uniforms, those routes can easy be 80-100k jobs I know guys doing it that started from nothing, I could list at least 100 other positions.

But the point is, trades are were it's at if you wanna do something for 2-5 years, make some good money, and start your own biz.

Personally like plumbing and hvac, because people will miss a car payment to make sure that AC is working in Texas and if your shitter isn't working well that's a shitting business, but makes money.

Yeah i've heard Retail BS jobs are not calling back, why? because every GenZ without a brain is calling and applying for those BS jobs, MEANWHILE there is massive shortage of labor in the trades.

There ya go.

Although the experience gained from retail is priceless. There is nothing like it in the world when you are on the other of the counter, a peek behind the curtain, if you will. Do one full year, endure the holidays, work through summer break, yeah it’s an education even school can’t teach. Human participation at its most interactive. Some are good some are bad but you will get to experience people and how they are when they think nobody is watching and they feel it’s their right to act as they wish.

I will say, a huge amount of gen Z think they deserve handouts and do nothing for society. That is something thats hard to overlook. I dont have a statistic or anything for that, nor a comparison to other groups of people or generations, just something I've seen.

Ever notice, folks have a tendency to notice their car once they own the same? Recognition is step 1, acknowledgment is a close second, retrospect is third, and reformation is fourth. Spans all generations.

Assumptions reveal biases
Because I have been warned before, I will refrain from calling you an idiot, as that would be mean. I'm sure you're a really lovely person to talk to when away from the internet.

However after reading through the ESE (fake engine noise) thread and seeing the incredible lack of understanding - or inability - regarding the fake sounds being pumped through your speakers, I don't really take a single thing you say with any sort of merit.

I have not made a single comment regarding wanting "handouts", lmao. I work a respectable job in a good field. It seems like you just want to label me as lazy based on my generation.

But by all means, keep posting these vague faux intellectual statements, they make you look really smart.

He's not talking about BS retail jobs. Its corporate America. My wife was one of 2500 applicants for the job she got hired for. They only reached out to the top 50 applicants. Let that sink in for a minute. Step out of your bubble and stop throwing stones.

As for the trades, yes there is a trade shortage. But not everone wants to be a blue collar worker with aspirations of starting their own HVAC business. Lol
