I was working at the local Chevy dealer when the last of em came through with much memorabilia and much dealer markup. Car and driver said the Mustang outsold the f bodies 3 to 1 despise the 4.6 2v dog and the weak 5spd. That fbody was a force bro. Ls1+t56 with factory hurst for like 25k. Ten bolt was on borrowed time but we all have our flaws.

Foolish motoring public. How can I explain in bro terms without getting removed...yes it was ugly but would you rather a 10 face with a stick body and bad in bed or a butter face with body like bam and has you walking funny the next day

We'll talk about the blunder from down under holden GTO next time

I had an LS1 Trans Am M6 and another one that was an A4. M6 was a daily until I got tired of shifting gears while working in Chicago traffic. Got the A4 for daily duty and then did the Thunder Racing TRex cam and full bolt ons on the M6 for a fun car. That thing SCREAMED.

When the miles got too high on the A4 I sold it to my bro in law. Last I heard when he sold it, it had about 200k miles and was still going strong. I bought a 2005 Mustang GT for daily duty after that and it was great, but the 4.6 was a definite downgrade from the LS1.

The LS1 cars were the best all around vehicles I owned; looked great, comfortable, the M6 ran 13.5 @ 109 MPH stock (good for its day) and got 32.5 MPG HwY, and dead nuts reliable... although this Dark Horse might change my mind on best all around.

the 4.6 was one of the most underpowered non upgradable engines Ford ever used.

If you think they were weak in the Mustang, drive an F150 with one of them

But then again the 5.4 of that era was a dog too, the 2V and Triton's were equally as bad.

When I got my 2007 GT Premium ragtop in December of 2020. it had 8400 miles on it, and it was as nice as the day it was made.

I started thinking that a supercharger was a reasonably priced project I could do in the garage here in FL, I'd fly my friend down for a few days and we would bang it out over the course of a week,

Started hitting the various forums, and the universal opinion was the block and crank were stout and could take a power adder, the connecting rods..... well they were another story

Anything north of 425 HP all bets were off, there was no reliability left in the rods

For the cost of doing the blower on top of what I paid for the car I could just go buy a newer car with a Coyote in it and be in the HP club.

As for Holden, The GTO was a good car that already had the R&D costs sunk and amortized.

Look at how many US Market GM cars were made off that Holden design Zeta platform
10 years of Caprice, 5 years of Camaro, Buicks, Pontiac G8

How many GM cars were built on OPEL platforms until GM gave OPEL away to FCA?

Ford survived because of Mazda, Chrysler because of Mitsubishi, GM North America was carried by their Euro divisions, and partnerships with Isuzu and Toyota

Guys talk about building the 4.6 or boosting it...stock Coyote will make what they plan on hitting power wise.

We went to a beach pub for lunch yesterday. When we came out there was a Camaro SS L next to mine, and a '65 Pontiac Catalina nearby.
OK, I'm biased, but I prefer the look of an S650 over the Camaro, being yellow didn't help.
