One of my favorite things is driving a mustang in a nice rain, especially at night with all the gauges lit up. Can’t imagine keeping such a chastity belt on my pony but to each their own, mustangs were meant to be driven! Cant wait for my 26’ dark horse to arrive!
Keeping my Stang dry has nothing to do with not driving! It gets driven, fast and hard! Glenn

updated review on my 2025 GT Premium Convertible:

—Mileage 12,000
—Delivery 4-18-2025; six months of joy
—Driving style: Mostly backroad cruising on trips
—Longest trip: 2-1/2 weeks; 4,300 miles
—Issues: NONE
—Average MPG: 28-29; decrease when top is down
—Top Speed: Classified
—Overall impression: FUN FUN FUN 😊😊
—Service: Routine maintenance by my dealer Phil Long Ford of Chapel Hills in Colorado Springs; they also did a top-notch job with the water intrusion recall (no water intrusion before or after; BCM no issue)

28mpg?! I took a 400 mile trip the other day and averaged 60mph. I got 24mpg. Normally I am seeing 16mpg. Mostly city driving in SE Florida. So I-95 is basically the speed limit, not the name of the interstate.
I drove more than 1,000 miles to Canada and back, and I got like 17.5. Since I got home, it has dropped to 17.1. Not that I care, but it seems low compared to many others. I guess I will have to keep driving to see if it gets better. 🤟 Glenn

Hi Glenn. Unless you were driving it hard
for the whole trip, that sounds low to me. My observations:
*My high elevation improves my gas mileage - less (thin) air = Less gas injection = less power(but not a biggie)
*heavy right foot definitely decreases mpg.
*Top down reduces my mpg 3-4mpg.
*My MPG is reduced when I drive it 75mpg and over.
*I also found that my mpg goes down when I use higher octane gas; but I also get more power and have a uyheavier foot; I normally use mid-grade..

I assume you are doing mostly freeway driving with that mpg. Very impressive regardless, for an 8 cylinder muscle car! I was getting about that as well...though less on average because of traffic. I added a Roush Phase 2 to her and she's even MORE fun now, but it did knock 2-3mpg off of my averages. Now my freeway drives average 24-25, where they were 26-28.

By the way, what area of the country is this? Your picture is amazing...looks like this should be in some magazine ad for Ford! :sunglasses:

BTW, what speeds to you guys try to average on four lane interstates or just four lanes? I can't keep a steady speed for having to get outta the way of others or passing others in my way. It seems to be a constant speed up or slow down thing. I can't find a speed where I don't have to do that unless it's at least 100 and that's asking for it.

Mostly backroad driving and very little freeway or interstate. I’m retired and I love cruising the backroads, stopping often to read the historical markers and see local sights. Lots of up and down, around and around, and varying speeds.

That photo is at Stanley Lake, Sawtooth mountains, Idaho.

Wait a minute! I'm allowed to drive under 75 on a highway with the top up? Now I know what's wrong! Thanks, but I'm probably not going to do that! So I will live with the low mileage! Sometimes you just have to make sacrifices. Glenn

I have a few of those but not as wild as yours. There are many small back roads in PA. This is a road trip I took a couple of weeks ago. Great when the leaves are changing. It's approximately 4 hours, but it is a complete circuit with almost every type of driving you could want. I have to say I was tired when I finished. Probably from the adrenaline rush on Rts 97 & 17. Same here. Too many Miss Daisey's slowing down the average, then having to accelerate back up to speed.
At least Mr Coyote makes passing a very quick thing. It's almost a safety feature.

I try to avoid four lanes. Prefer the backroads.

ITS THE JOURNEY, not the destination! ESPECIALLY IN A MUSTANG GT!

As you've mentioned, it is usually a variable speed thing. Roads today are often crowded with all sorts of drivers. On longer trips on interstates, I am often using active cruise. If not very crowded, I just stay out of the way of idiots. If I need to pass, I just drop a gear or two and punch it. Very easily accomplished with the Coyote! Back in the day, you could drive for an hour or more and never come out of cruise control. Glenn
