We did a short trip last Saturday for lunch. On the way back the road was closed due to a cycle v car, so we had to do a long detour. I remembered a short cut I use to use 30+ years ago.
It was funny as hell, the road was barely wider than the Mustang, there were cars a few hundred metres ahead so there would be nothing coming the other way. So I gave it the beans for a short while. This car is really capable for such a big thing on such a small road. Laugh a minute stuff.

Yeah, but it isn't a Dark Horse. 🙄

I bet you're having a lot of fun per buck though.

If there had been a Dark Horse convertible I would have it!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, there are a lot of small back roads in PA. Besides worrying about other vehicles coming at you on narrow roads, you have to hope there aren't any cows around the corner. I love driving on those twisty roads! This car was built for that! Straight-ahead speed can be fun, but the twists will get your heart pumping and the adrenaline rushing! Glenn

We have wandering stock here too. Not too common luckily.

It isn't common here either, but coming around a blind turn and Daisy Mae is meandering along at 3 mph will test your brake reaction time! It only happened to me once, but I don't want it to happen again! I've had cattle crossing roads before, but usually there is plenty of time to slow down. Glenn

It's also not a frog or a dog.
BTW Where did frogdog come from?
Family nickname for a national champion Labrador Retriever field trial dog my wife and I bought as a 7 week old puppy, trained and beat the best with. He jumped a lot, so he earned the name "Frogdog". I know, It's corny but he was no joke when it came to performance. We will never forget him or the experience, so there ya go.

Yes. Duck and dove hunted with him and had the times of our lives.

He absolutely would not sit in a duck blind and insisted on either sitting in the middle of a sandbar when hunting on The Red River or outside, beside the blind when marsh hunting. Big black dog never scared the first duck off but they could see me and my partner a mile away. We shot 'em and he just sauntered over, picked them up and brought them to us without a word said to him. He was easier to work with than most people. I know he could have driven my Mustang better than I do. His everyday name was "Jet" but he earned the affectionate name of "Frogdog" because he jumped up and down a lot when next to me. :like:

We watched The Art of Racing in the Rain last night. Despite the name it's about Enzo the dog. Excellent movie, but don't watch it if you tear up over sad movies.

Man, seeing all your builds really puts mine into perspective. I’ve been beating the hell out of this car. Picked it up in October 2023, and as of today (12/10/2025) it’s already at 38k miles — all of it basically full-send. Living in Miami doesn’t help either; I’m sitting around 13–15 MPG on average. If I take it easy I can hit 18 MPG, but realistically… why would I?

The transmission finally started complaining — 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are all slipping — but warranty’s covering it, so it’s already at the dealer getting a new one.

Current mods:

  • Double Helix mid-pipe
  • Muffler delete
  • K&N 63 cold air intake
  • Lowering springs
  • Carbon fiber Dark Horse rear spoiler

I also just ordered catless headers. Once those go on, I’m going straight into a full tune: flex-fuel setup for quick E85 switching, burbles, transmission tuning, rev limiter delete, unlocking the premium-only features Ford hides, and dialing everything in to squeeze the most power out of the headers and intake — while still keeping it solid as a daily.

You should dyno it before and after.
