Ugh, irritating. Every time I drive over a bump, something is now rattling over there. I checked the glovebox to see if anything was in it that could rattle, but no. It also sounds higher up than that, although it is difficult to pinpoint the location. This started three days ago.

Am I correct in guessing that the local Ford dealer will probably have 0 success at isolating and fixing this noise?

Many times it isn't actually the dash, it is the passenger seat back that is causing a small rattling and ticking noise.

Easy way to rule this out is to have a copilot ride along / or put a filled backpack with things / or something else with some weight that would lean up against the seat in the passenger seat and go over bumps. If it disappears, that is your answer. If not, rule it out and continue searching the dash.

Only saying this because a friend of mine also thought the sound was the dash... it wasn't until I told him to try this out and sure enough it was the seat back that was causing the rattling noise over bumps.

It is worth a shot. Thank you. I will try it out.

Dealers have to first duplicate the problem. And IF they do, it will likely end up being a multi day if not weeks long event while they tear apart the interior and guess at what it could be.

I personally would have someone else drive and do my best to isolate the area and fix myself if possible. If it's really bad, record it for the dealer and try to give them a specific area.

Good luck.
