When I came back stateside in 1989 with my 1981 Camaro with T-tops, lol, a police officer pulled me over due to my license plate. It was white and said USA on it, which is an issue license plate (or was back then) to military stationed in Europe.

He wanted to know what kind of license plates they were.

It took me a while to convince him that they were not fake, but military service means a lot to police officers where I live now, so showing him my military ID immediately defused the situation (I was on 30 days separation leave at the end of my enlistment).

Expensive!

I thought you were from Holland? You could not keep your old driver's license while you were away?
I am from Holland and I never changed my drivers license. Still the same license like many years ago. I don't see what you are trying to say lol.

Sorry. I was reading too fast, "I got a permit to drive," and now I see that you were getting permission to drive with foreign plates, not getting a permit to drive, as in a temporary license. I misunderstood.

Oh, maybe I used the wrong English word. My bad, my English isn't that good.

We have to get a special document that gives you 2 weeks to drive temporary with foreign license plates. It's like a permission or exempt.

Every time I visited Holland, I was impressed with the English skill of the locals. I used to joke that the Dutch spoke better English than the average American (and, like most jokes, there had to be some truth to it for it to be humorous). You, sir, are no exception. Your words were chosen well. I simply read too quickly and carelessly.

That car looks phenominal in the European setting for some reason. Doesn't it make the Audi look plain?
It makes me very glad I grabbed the Grabber Blue car.

Totally agree. The car stands out above all others and I think it also has to do with the color. We have so many AMG's, RS3,4,5,6,7's but for some reason those cars look boring because everybody is driving German cars over here and they all have that grey color.

Yesterday 2 kids were stunned. They could not move. Their parents had to drag them away. I love to see kids happy. Reminds me of myself when I was a kid looking at those cars.

So today I bought a set of Performance Pack wheels with winter tires.

Since I live in Europe now, it's very hard to find those wheels because there aren't much S650 owners in Europe and almost no take offs on the market. I wanted the exact same PP wheels als mine (Nite Pony) but the only wheels I could find where the standard PP wheels which are dark grey. But I'm fine with that. I bought them from Germany with a 200 Euro shipping cost.

Now my winter set is grey and summer set is black. I wanted to go all season first, but changing tires constantly on the same wheels was something that I don't like. Also going full winter tires is much better for the safety since this is my daily and I also might do some roadtrips around the Alps in Switzerland and Austria and maybe Italy.

Today I created a temporary license plate so I can drive legally to the inspection. I still don't have Dutch license plates and it might take 2 more weeks at least.

I know, the plate looks ugly. I'm very bad in creating things by hand lol.

I bought myself a new set of wheels with winter tires and I'm really happy!

Now I have the grey PP wheels for the winter and the black PP wheels for the summer

Thanks to the German Mustang 7G forum!

This is a one-day-license plate, that we are allowed to create ourselves, just to visit the inspection station.

The Mustang went to inspection this week.
It passed the inspection as expected. I added the rear fog light and turn signals in the mirrors 6 months ago and that's about it.

I almost didn't pass the inspection, because I copied some IPC lines from you guys to remove the seatbelt splash screen. Instead of removing the seatbelt splash screen it removed the seatbelt chime, which was also mandatory to work during the inspection.

I didn't know for sure that they will drive my vehicle to find out, so I changed the values back, just a few minutes before inspection.

Later when I checked my dashcam footage, they actually did drive my car for 100 meters, just to check the seatbelt chime.

I arrived on the 16th August in Europe and I had a 2 week permit to drive with foreign license plates. After those 2 weeks, I was not allowed to drive the Mustang until I have it registered on Dutch plates.

It's 28 of September right now and my car still is waiting for all the administration to get it on plates.

It's crazy that we are almost at 2 months, and still waiting on something this easy.

European burocracy as its best. In the best case scenario I can drive the car somewhere halfway October.

That's interesting that you can use a home made plate. It's an instant ticket here, issue plate or don't drive it.

It's only from home to inspection and back.
Not allowed to drive anything else than that.

Yes, I read that. We can't even do that. I had one cop having a go because I'd trimmed the edges of my plate for more airflow into the grill, even though it was still completely readable.

Well, trimming edges on a plate here is also a fine.

I finally got my car registered and they generated a license plate for my car.

I like the plate and I already used some fantasy to make the license plate makes sense: JHH = Just High Horsepower, 67 = The most famous Mustang year, Z = the first letter of my name.

But they screwed up on a lot of things.

1. They messed up the built date. They registered 28 February 2024 while my car is built on the 28 September 2024. This is a huge mistake because I might get in some trouble when trying to sell the car. Also my first inspection (28 February 2028) will be 6 months before I should go to the inspection, which isn't that big of a deal.

2. They registered my car as a Dark Horse instead of a GT. And the reason why? Because my car has more HP than the European GT and also more HP than the European Dark Horse. Because of this, they thought it was some special Dark Horse with extra horsepower. Even though, they knew that my car has more HP than the European Dark Horse, they could not edit the HP manually, so you can still see that my car has 454hp, just like the European Dark Horse.

3. They wrote that my car goes in 5.2 seconds to 0-100km/h. These are the European Mustangs that are this slow. I'm pretty sure my 10 speed GT is faster than that.

4. And they messed up the worth of my car because of the wrong build date. It says 135k but it should be 149k

I contacted them by mail to see if they could at least change the build date to the right date so I won't have any issues later on.
