Correct. This kind of thing is partly why I will never own another GM product...never ever. Had too many with issues.
I don't blame you. Both GM and Ford need to get their act together for the average consumer. These two cars are cool but 90% of the public can't afford either one so they could care less about lap times. Farley also needs to keep Porsche out his mouth. The Mustang will never compare to a Porsche and the demographic that buys Mustangs doesn't buy Porsches.

I could have bought a Porsche but I've driven them, been around them, and don't want one. I'm only willing to put so much in a car. Mustangs have their "spots" but I must like them. I'm on the forth one.

I think Nurburgring is kind of. Dumb test track. No memory just a dumb track. Got to road Atlanta or VIR or something for data
And what's the argument behind your thinking?
Calling something dumb without explaining why isn't smart.

I agree and also disagree. It was indeed wet before the lap. But it was not wet enough to cancel the try since it dried up more than enough to do it without excuses.

Other part is, and even Micha said this, that Chevy could shabe 10 seconds of the lap because of the conservative engineer as the driver.
Conservative engineer technical driver with more than plenty of seat hours specific to the track? An engineer vs a driver?

All track records. I have been saying it for a while, why hasn't Ford gone after these?

Below are the five tracks and the Corvette ZR1’s lap times, each with a GM driver at the wheel:

  • Watkins Glen Long Course: 1:52.7. Driver: Bill Wise, Lead Performance Engineer, Chassis Controls.
  • Road America: 2:08.6. Driver: Brian Wallace, Lead Vehicle Dynamics Engineer.
  • Road Atlanta: 1:22.8. Driver: Chris Barber, Lead Development Engineer.
  • Virginia International Raceway Full Course: 1:47.7. Driver: Aaron Link, Global Vehicle Performance Manager.
  • Virginia International Raceway Grand Course: 2:32.3. Driver: Aaron Link.

Is just a random no lap track. Is cool but stupid to test cars on. And way too long with way too many variables

Because the mustang is an everyman’s car and the vette is apparently an ‘engineers’ device? But yeah, dunno, hopefully the board perceives the benefit of performance competition and king of the hill sales. Folks are still talking about that manual viper so why not go for it ford?

Too many variables on a race track makes it a dumb track?

Damn, this is the most American answer I have ever seen.

It's like complaining about a drag race track and say it's dumb because the track is too straight.

A race track needs many variables to test out what a car can do in those situations.

But I see where you are coming from.
The country known for NASCAR driving in circles and dragraces.

I agree and it’s a legendary track. I just think it would be a better car to car comparison for any car at a track that isn’t almost 13 miles long with 170 turns

Ford is recalling cars by the hundreds of thousands

Their engine reliability in everything but the 5.0 Coyote s iffy at best, Eco Boosts are more like EcoBOMBS

GM and Ford are on a race to the bottom for second and third place, Chrysler already got 1st.

People ask me what kind of car they should buy, and my answer is none of them

Every manufacturer has a laundry list of problems either with their engines or transmissions including Toyota the car that was once very reliable.

The GTD is a vanity project, every car they make costs Ford, there is no way they are making dime one on any of those cars sold.

I bet GM is making money on the Corvettes

But as nice as the C8 is, there is no hiding all the issues with their V8's as they age, displacement on demand on the 5.7's is a nightmare, and the fix is not cheap.

You can't give away anything with a 6.2 in it right now, especially a truck. Dealers don't even want them on trades as they can't get rid of them by retail sale and the auctions are flooded with them. Changing the oil viscosity isn't going to fix poor design and manufacturing processes.

I didnt think the mustang was ever meant to compete with corvette. Put the ford gt out there and see what it does. Mustang and camaro was the two competitors and in the same class. Chevy abandoned the camaro again.
