Hey everyone. Just wanted to advise everyone that you may have a new recall coming up. I just got it, no remedy yet though.
UPDATE: Remedy is expected in the first quarter of 2025.

I had this happen two weeks ago on a rental vert in Atlanta. It was the first morning I drove the car. Chalked it up to a glitch. Drove to my place of work with it blank. I used Google maps to monitor my speed , went to leave around 4pm and it booted up and was working just fine. Also showed that an update had finished. Made me think the software update caused it and it had to finish or cycle with the key.

Honestly not sure. Really odd honestly. This model year has gotten so many recalls it’s insane.

It's not a 2003.25 6.0L. So I'm not complaining. I lived that life like no other. 120+ running changes on the engine alone to 2004 and even more to 2005.

Lmao yeah, but still kind of annoying. I get it’s a first model year, but this thing has gotten double digit recalls now. This is crazy. Not to mention, this recall also has no remedy until 2025

Any personal computer user should understand upgrades. Especially so if you're a Windows user! I prefer Macs, but I do own an HP laptop for the sole purpose of loading drivers on to a ballistics chronograph. I get 5 to as many as 7 security updates for the Window machine every week! I don't get that for the Mac in several months! All this said, the Sync software is about as fickle as a Windows box. You can (should) expect glitches and open back doors, which the security folks do their best to latch down. You don't like it, but the truth speaks for itself. By the way, the main reason Ford has locked down the programming is to 'help' insure a safe driving experience. Just count yourself lucky you don't own a Chrysler product with a wide open back door!

Ok so 2 things:

1) I had a 2011 explorer Ltd which was the first to have that generation Sync system. It had tons of software glitches and it took them several years before it got relatively stable. Give them time. They will get there.

2) I do autonomy software for a living and back in 2019 I went to the AUVSI Autonomous Vehicle Symposium. Probably 600 people in attendance. One of the sessions was on software system security. I was one of 5 people who showed up for that talk. 5 out of 600…. I vowed right then and there that I would NEVER own or ride in any “self driving” car. Nobody takes security seriously until they have to, and if it’s not designed in from the start it’s useless. With things like over the air updates (which means you don’t even have to have physical access to a programming port), and 3rd party replacement devices being able to be plugged into the data bus, it’s a wonder every car out there hasn’t been hacked and isn’t being crashed by some nefarious actor, let alone poorly tested updates with bus being introduced into the fleets.

Do you receive notification from dealership or Ford regarding recalls if it affects your car? I haven't received any, I've gone online and entered my VIN, it says no recalls for this VIN. Are these recalls for all 24 Mustangs? I've only noticed some glitches when using Android Auto but that's about it "knock on wood".

They notify you by mail but this one they aren’t doing yet because there’s no fix yet. To see if you’re affected go to NHTSA.gov, recalls, put in your VIN. It’ll say if your production date is affected.

There’s a lot of truth right there. How many times has one of your vendors suffered a data breach?

I’m at 9 or 10 right now.
It’s only a matter of time until someone finds a way to encrypt a car over the air and ransom access to it.

It’s not just access; Once my ’17 Raptor is broken into, Sync can be master reset without a password in under 10 seconds after start up, which is about 10 seconds.
Of course, they could just pull the fuse, cut the wire with physical access but if the vehicle were ... a plane, for example, that kind of insecurity would be unacceptable. If it were your bank safety deposit box - again, unacceptable.

One of the first things F series thieves do is disable sync either by pulling the fuse or a master reset. Once that’s done, there’s no location data available, unless you’ve got another tracker.

Let’s just say if Microsoft still can’t make good digital products, it’s no surprise Ford can’t either.
Would pay probably a few thousand to have Tesla make software for this car.

nothing I love more than the half black screens, no output audio in CarPlay, useless restarts, and frozen infotainment when you start the car and try to use the My Mustang button.
still probably the best looking instrument cluster I’ve seen in a modern car tho so not entirely pissed

Yup, happened to me. I Googled at the time and found others on Reddit, etc. who posted similar experiences.

https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/gauge-screen-died.162727/

The quality of these cars leaves a lot to be desired. So many issues from body fitment to tech to straight-up defective design (i.e. front fender liner holes).
I fail to understand sometimes how a huge motor vehicle company fails to have decent quality control. It’s not a hole in the wall company. They are one of the biggest.
