Wireless CarPlay always connects for me but… About 1 in 4 times when I drive my car, CarPlay connects and my music / audiobook / navigation apps launch just fine, but there is no sound.

I can see the progress bar on the song moving, etc. If I change the audio output on my iPhone 13 Pro to its own speakers, the audio plays through them.

Powering my phone down and forcing a reconnect sometimes works. The only reliable fix seems to be to reboot the infotainment system, I.e suck it up and listen to FM radio until I get to my destination.

If this has happened to anyone else and you’ve managed to fix it, I’d very much appreciate your advice!

Mine does that once in a while, Android Auto. Rebooting the Radio corrects it. I never restart my Phone.

Annoying for sure.

I've run into the same problem with my iPhone 12 Pro. What worked for me was resetting the network settings on my phone. It was annoying to have to reconnect to all my Wi-Fi networks again, but it fixed the no sound issue. Also, I made sure my car's firmware was up to date, which seemed to help too. Try these steps and see if it works for you!

My “sound/system: issues are a bit different than those cited. Android phone (Samsun A12); Android 12 OS.

Blue tooth works fine for hands free phone ops. Bluetooth for playing my music on the phone doesn’t really work at all. Sometimes I get a 30 sec sample of a song, sometimes the 30 sec song sample plays but I don't get any sound, and sometime it won’t (car's audio system) won't do anything at all. Impressive. :curse:

Connect the phone to the car via USB C cable and it charges fine, but many times the car doesn’t see the phone as an audio device (no A12 with a USB icon appears in the audio sources menu). Other times “eventually” I’ll get a A12 USB I popping up in audio sources, but when I press it to switch my audio source to the phone; I get an on screen (car) prompt telling me my USB device needs to be unlocked before connecting it to the car and that MTP (media transfer protocol) has to be enabled.

My phone IS unlocked, has NEVER been locked, and MTP IS enabled?! WT :curse:!

“Once in a while” when I connect the phone to the car; I get a “deny or allow” prompt at the bottom of my phone’s display; asking if the car “may” access data on the phone. “Allowing” the access results in an A12 USB I appearing in audio sources maybe a minute or so later. Pressing A12 as my audio source in this instance results in my “phone music” playing just fine over the car’s audio system (except my carefully crafted music playlist is totally scrambled by the car!). Let me repeat; WT:curse:!

I’ve had both a 20 something ATT (my phone service provider) Customer Service Rep, and the 30 something Sales Rep who sold me my GT trouble shoot this **** for me to no avail. Props to them for being as patient and helpful as they were. BTW: Tried a new USB C cable at the ATT Store to eliminate the possibility of my USB cable being defective. It isn't.

When I connect the phone via USB to my comp in the house (Win 10 Pro 64 OS); I get the deny/allow access prompt EVERYTIME, and when I “allow” the devices immediately start communicating with no difficulty. Did I mention WT:curse:?

After a fair bit of discussion; my Sales Rep, the ATT guy, and I are all of the opinion the issue/s is with the GT’s audio system software.

THANKS Ford!

With iPhone and CarPlay when things act weird I turn off CarPlay for the Mustang on my iPhone. Leave it for a minute or two and then turn it back on. Seems to work for me. I'm connected wireless. Very rare though. HTH.

Run your phone wirelessly, that helps avoid this issue. If anything, reboot the infotainment by holding "next" and "volume down" for several seconds.
Oh, I didn’t know you could do a reboot that way! Nice.

FWIW, the issue only seems to occur for me when running wirelessly.

Mine does the same thing with carplay, no sound but seems like everything else works. Running wirelessly on an iPhone 15 Pro. Turning on the wifi last time worked, if gives a warning that CarPlay will disconnect, which it does, then it reconnected automatically a few seconds later. I have been trying to figure out want triggers it to happen. Hoping Ford will figure it out and do an OTA update. I have found my wife’s Audi does the same occasionally so it may be an Apple bug.

Do you mean enabling the Mustang’s wifi hotspot?

Listening to Pandora with AA it seems some event causes it to go silent. Happens very seldom. I just push the talk button and ask for Pandora to play and it restarts again.

I’ve had it happen too! Apple car play and 15 pro iPhone. An annoyance but seems temporary.

Update: resetting network settings on the iPhone didn’t make a difference in my case but the rebooting of Sync 4 via the steering wheel buttons has made the problem a bit more tolerable
