Yea, Magneride is garbage. It's only been around over 22 years and can be found on garbage sports cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Corvette (inc. Z06 and ZR1), Audi, Camaro (inc. ZL1), Cadillac V-Series, Acura (inc. NSX), and a host of other high performance vehicles. Oh, and the Mustang. I bet those car owners strip it all out and replace with aftermarket suspension. 😆

If you think comparing MR in the Mustang to most of those cars you listed are the same you really know nothing about them.

I wouldn't say it is garbage but in certain vehicles like the Mustang we are talking about there are better option for those that are in to real performance.

And yes, there are some that rip MR out of their cars because it is limited and/or expensive to make better!

I thought you didn't make "assumptions"!

Simply put, yes get it and any other options you are thinking about. Are you going to use it fully, maybe not but you got it and for resale now you’re a little more attractive. I’ve loved the availability on my past 3 purchases.

Absolutely, but all it can do is either stiffen up or soften the shock, it won't lift the wheel or drop it, and it'll always be reactive instead of proactive so again it might help a tiny bit, but you're still hitting that pothole head on!

Just a question: does the gt500 and dh folks de-option or are these the they that purchase an lx or eboost and swap everything out, they basically just want the form/shell?

not suggesting mr is the be all end all but for what it does it aint half bad, and some of the added bennies (puff puff pass) mitigation are a bonus.

I'm hoping the pothole mitigation feature works but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
Agreed, it’s in the same category as no-lift shift. Not something i’m attempting to verify on the daily but sure glad it’s there when i need it.

It's idea is to use the camera + other sensors hopefully to detect them. And when it detects a hole it Max's out damping so that when you go over the hole and the wheel unloads the spring is unable to expand by much so that when you get to the end of the hole the wheel hasn't drooped.

The major impact on potholes is not falling into the hole but hitting the edge on the way back out

Just to clarify, the shocks are not magnetically driven, it's still oil doing the damping passively like a regular shock.
In a magnetic damping system, we take a normal shock and fill the oil with suspended iron particles. A pair of electromagnetic coils (to cancel eddy currents) are used to generate magnetic fields, which can be adjusted 20000+ times a second.

The magnetic field changes the oil from a Newtonian fluid to a Bingham plastic, which instantly changes the amount of force needed to move the oil. These changes happen at light speed, and yes, it is the magnetic field that is actively driving the damping.

I didn't spot one quick enough going around a corner on a double lane turn and it was a deep one. I was bracing for impact and the preparing for the low tire pressure light to rear is ugly head. Could feel going over it, but no bottoming out. I call it a success! Still try to avoid them like my life depends on it though, haha

I think they are all derivatives of the same basic ME design from ~2002, just improved over the year.

You clearly really know nothing about them and just want to see yourself post. Maybe you're just making excuses for not being able to afford ME, I dunno.

My .02
I’ve had it on my M4, M3, M550i, M240i, ZL1, Bullitt, Mach 1, Supra and Camaro SS. Played with each setting in all the cars and while some are better than others(I would say GM is the best, BMW the worst), I don’t feel for street driving it is all that great. If you are going to spend the money, then ditching any OEM suspension for the aftermarket is the way to go.

I don’t have it on my current S650 because I picked it up off the lot and the car handles just fine. If it had it I wouldn’t have cared.
It's one of those things that really isn't all that noticeable, but I want it just to have it.

95% of the time I'm leaving any car with active dampers in their softest settings.

What did I state that "in your opinion" shows I know nothing about them? Just because they are all kind of have the same system doesn't mean they are the same and can be lumped into a question of worth.

Personal insults because you can't add to the discussion. LOL

Again I thought you didn't "assume"! You sure seem to a lot!

If you are going to ask a question, please try to make it comprehensible.

I'll go out on a limb and say you 2 are not in the modding/racing community and/or new to mustangs.
Nothing at all wrong with that and I didn't say that as an insult at all. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

There are some that will get every option on a car just to have it. Then there are some that get these options and find out they have their short comings, even though they are performance options, they can be a lot better. There are expensive tuning/part options for MR for the Mustang.
Some will rip them out because of price to upgrade and because you can more tailor the suspension without MR.

Nobody personally insulted you. A personal insult would have been something along the lines of: You are an (insert personal insult here).

Accusing someone of personally insulating you because you got a case of the red ass doesn't mean someone insulted you. It means your skin is far, far too thin.

New to modding Mustangs? LOL. I was converting Fox bodied Mustangs from 4CYL/AUTO to 5.0L/5-speeds before many of the members on this forum were much more than a twinkle in their mommy & daddy's eyes (early 1980s).

Red-Ass that's a new one. And I have never been told my skin is thin.

But to the point you never responded to the original post with anything that proved I was wrong.

Saying someone is wrong because you think they didn't get it because they couldn't afford it is silly and can be insulting to some. I dint mean it as you insulted me as you can't insult me on here, I'm just pointing out the fact you can't respond to facts when called out. Only "assume" someone doesn't know something because they didn't pick that option.

Bottomline I never said I couldn't afford MR...HAHA
I know way more about it than you which is why I didn't option it. I "assume" this since the only thing you know is it is a system used on other vehicles...LOL

Like I said, yeah I can see it useful for some that want a soft/comfortable ride. IMO it is not worth it to me as I would rip it out and replace it.

The C8 Corvette and S650 Mustang are using virtually identical magnetic damping systems, as far as the technology driving them is concerned. Shocks are only a part of the equation, but then you can't buy MagneRide without the Performance Package.

Is the Z51 performance package worth it on the C8 Corvette? Is the Performance Package and MagneRide worth it on a Mustang? To me personally, absolutely, that's why I ordered it. For other people it won't make sense, which is why it's an option and not the standard. Track enthusiasts, as you already noted, don't want to pay for dampers they're going to remove when they install an aftermarket suspension.
