Rear View Mirror-remove housing

Anyone remove the rear view mirror housing? Difficult? I’d it just clipped? I don’t want to force it.

It's just 4 clips. The smaller piece that goes next to the mirror shaft comes off first then just pull, it feels like it may break but it won't. Have had mine off multiple times.

Thanks! I have what appears to be a circle ring from the window install behind the black housing. I hope it can be cleaned off.

@topdawg4ever You could be seeing the Rain Sensor for the Automatic wipers. This pic is from a 2018, but our should be similar. the Rain Sensor is at the lower left of the mirror mount in this picture.

This is what the rain sensor looks like. on the side that faces the window.

Thats probably what it is. Any suggestions because it looks odd. like it wasn’t fully attached.

Here is mine. What you are seeing the edge of the Cermic paint where it meets the sensor. There is nothing you can do about it.

A trim tool made the cover removal easy for me.

Logic would say that the cover is the same for the Coupe and Convertible but knowing Ford there will probably be a difference.......anyone know for sure??

How did this go? About to wrestle with mine to install mirror taps for my Uniden. I have a panel puller, but it's metal and pretty thick, not a nice plastic shim to slide in. I'll have to find something and be careful...
