Whipple is definitely advertising the hell out of the supercharger but failing to deliver on any orders. Didn’t they say they would try to begin shipping mid January on their site…. Weird its March and no update but they have no problems taking more orders

Yeah, clearly they meant well, but we live in a tik tok society with very short attention spans.

you just can’t make people wait extra weeks, let alone months and quarters for a new product release… should have just held off until they were good to go.

my conspiracy side thinks they needed money for production ramp…. And took it from all the pre orders.
It’s a very Tesla/Elon move if so.
Probably never know… just keep talking about carb certs even though most of us don’t live in cali or give AF.

You probably hit the nail on the head also why they probably teamed up with VMP to sell the exact same supercharger just with a VMP logo on it ( VMP probably gave them a good amount of money to be able to do so )

I don't really see Whipple needing money. It has always been a few weeks wait to get a kit as I have never seen one off the shelf. Pretty sure they thought the emission part wasn't going to take as long as it is. But I can see them wanting to get that done before any kits hit the market. This is not at all out of the norm for a new product for a new year vehicle. I remember waiting for my Whipple for my 2018 F150.

Still sucks to wait. I'm waiting til November to make my order.

TBH I have no interest in being one of the first. I will enjoy my car N.A. for awhile and make sure it's something I even want to do. If there are any kinks, I would rather have the early adoptors work them out. Maybe next year for me.

I don't think they need a couple hundred preorders to fund production. They're a nearly 40 year old company with nearly $30M a year in revenue. I'm sure the fact that Ford locked down tuning as tight as a drum on the S650 is a driving factor for any delay.

Ford did not lock down tuning for Whipple that’s why Whipple is the only SC available. Pretty sure most the frustration is from Whipple coming out publicly and saying they will start shipping kits ( mid January) and then not saying anything more when they delayed it. That has everyone wondering why we see all the superchargers at the big name companies like Lethal ect…

I meant in general, not specifically for Whipple.

But if you actually think they had to take a couple hundred (at best?) preorders in order to ramp up production, that's just plain silly.

I trade stock all the time and you see some crazy things from companies. I’m not saying that’s what they did but you never know. They might have more going on than just ramping up but then again that’s all just guessing at that point. Either way for any company from Apple to Amazon all the way down to Whipple if they set a date on a project release and then are almost 2 months late and have no future estimates that does ring some bells. Carb certs should be common procedure for a company like Whipple so to be stuck at them for months kinda sounds funny.

Anything is possible, I suppose. But I highly doubt they had to presell a few hundred kits in order to produce them. I've been involved in automotive manufacturing for ~35 years, eleven of those with my current organization and Ford is 99.9% of our production. We produced what's in your Mustang. If we had to presell a few hundred of anything in order to begin producing products for a new program, we'd have been out of business a long time ago.
