Why Do Some Call Supercharged S650s Dyno Queens?

I have tried to keep up with S650s, their Whipple kits, the horsepower they put down, and the times they can run. I thought the dyno numbers they produce were pretty astounding, seemingly more than the Gen 3's with the equivalent stage Whipple kit. I've seen videos of their Quarter mile times and trap speeds, and I thought the runs seemed quite impressive. Despite this, I have consistently seen comments about how they are dyno queens, how they are running times that aren't good or don't make sense for the horse power they put down, or how their results are worse than the equivalent Whippled Gen 3. I'm sure many on this board have a far better idea than me of how the results of the Gen 4s compare to the Gen 3s, and how impressive they are beyond the dyno numbers they put down.

Perfect example… house of boost has a 24 supposedly making 950whp … it ran 11.0 @137

That’s a dyno queen… cars at that weight/HP should be trapping damn near 150 in the mid 9s
And it’s consistent on a lot of non shop whipple cars

As soon as I get mine to the track I’ll know more… idgaf about dynos… trap speed MPH is the truth

Those are the cases I've been seeing. It just have no idea how that manages to happen. Any idea of why some of them are able to put down such crazy numbers but down such insane horsepower on the dyno but not at the track? There are some out there putting down pretty great numbers, like this dark horse below.

1. The stick shift cars are much slower

2. some of the cars don't have the bugs worked out yet

good example:

Big thing is trans and shift point tuning, so it makes the power, but the trans tune has a lot of torque reduction to keep from eating itself.

Stick cars even TreMeCs have issues from clutch slippage to pressure plate not holding the power and high rpm shift issues causing safety mode, that kind of stuff

it’s because so many people concentrate on horsepower only. When you’re pushing that much power, you need more tire - bigger contact patch and grippier rubber. Beyond that, a sloppy suspension will soak up some of the thrust. And then there’s the transmission - if you’re great at rowing your own, you’ll be ok. But still not as quick as a modern automatic. And if you’re not so great at shifting, you’ll be pulling close to stock numbers. And then there’s launch technique. Consistent launches get much more difficult when adding big power, but failing to match that with the right tires and suspension upgrades.

the American pony cars seem to have suffered the most from this as the cars just aren’t sorted in the suspension and tire dept. from the factory the way sports cars and even overseas rivals are 9ever watch a factory stock Mustang GT mash the throttle from a stop? Suspension slop galore). Take a corvette for example. Add power and you’ll be rewarded. Do that is a camaro, challenger, or Mustang and… you have a synonym queen - until you sort the tires, suspension, and get your launch dialed in.

BeefCakes, is running a non stock car it's pretty lit up with goodies, and I suspect the other cars before it up there 👆are also, modded with all kinds of stuff.

I'm looking for a plain Jane car "STOCK" "STOCK" "STOCK" except for the Whipple would love to see those times ...? Anyone know where we can see that ...?

Brenspeed went 10.5 @ 135 with the Roush supercharger and a set of rear tires. Otherwise stock. It's not a Whipple but basically the same thing.

Theres no point in trying to go down the drag strip with stock tires or even non-drag radials.

that’s the point.
The stock setup isn’t sorted for adding huge power. You are ALREADY MODDING by supercharging. So go ahead and sort those tires and that suspension.

otherwise… enjoy your dyno queen.

Tires yes, but not much suspension, almost all whipple cars seem to be cutting 1.4s and 1.5s… that’s getting it done for sure on stock gear.

You could possibly throw the whole catalog at it and not knock a tenth out of the hole.

Ok buddy. If you say so.
Like I said… enjoy your dyno queen.
