Early on yes, but a long time ago now and the engine has lived on since then.

Here is another random and totally uninformed opinion regarding the fate of the "Mustang" .......
It will survive and survive as a performance V-8. The EcoBoost model will go away. The remaining "GT" and variants will be the base model priced in the $75+K range. It will integrate some of the "GTD" technology and become a "real" head to head competitor to the Corvette, Porche and Supra etc etc. Ford will figure out how to make money on sales of 40K +/- units a year. The day of the "everyman" sports coupe from Ford are numbered and probably have been for a decade.

My professor had one before replacing it with a yellow mk5 supra. He had the engine replaced due to the head gasket issue, but after that, it was flawless. Definitely one of those early issues that got resolved pretty quickly.
