2020 CFTP GT500 with Whipple 3.8L, fuel system and all the mods which I still own. Car went 8.86@163mph.

I've mentioned in a lot of my videos and content that I really feel that the DH with handling package and Whipple on it feel very similar to the GT500. Mainly how it drives and feels. Steering and suspension on it seems tight and tracks very similat to my GT500. Braking feels very similar as well. Obviously the DH was missing the power the GT500 put out but with the Whipple that's a different story. The only big difference I notice is the transmission. I'm a big fan of the DCT and it's ability to shift so quickly. I love the shift logic in it too. Not that I'm against the 10R80 I have in my DH but the DCT is in my opinion the better of the two.

Have a 24 C8 Z06, but reality is the DH is way more fun to do drive. The Manual transmisson and HP really make it more enjoyable on the track. I am adding a Whipple to get a little more performance out it. Have probably driven the C8 4 times since I got the DH.

I have a 2016 GT/CS, C6 Corvette and a 1997 GT convertible. I rotate them with my Dark Horse. I use the GT/CS and the Dark Horse the most, I the DH is more fun to drive (since I took the RS tires off), but if I am taking a trip, we the GT/CS because it gets 3mpg better and is just as comfortable, plus my wife isn’t intimidated by the added technology of the Dark Horse. Keep in mind that we are in our 70’s.

1971 C3 Corvette Stingray 454 4 speed ❤❤
BMW 325, 1986 M3, 2008 M3 V8, M4 manuals
2008, 2009 C5 Z06 manuals
2012 GT500 manual
C6 Corvette Gran Sport Convertible, manual - forget the year
2016 C7 Z06 manual
2019 Mustang GT Premium RoushCharged manual - 720 hp - AWESOME
2022 C8 Stingray auto (no choice)
2025 C8 Z06 auto (no choice) still own, traded Roush & C8 Stingray to get my dream car.
Missed my Mustang, ordered 2024 DH
Loved them all. BMWs as fine machines. Do everything well. No V8 roar though.
C6 Z06’s were awesome. Power (550hp), handling, brakes, magnetic shocks, & loud. Great fun
C7 Z06 hard to beat. Everything and 650 hp & 31 mpg on interstate (cylinder de-activation)
C8 Z06 is my ultimate. More hp without blower. Handles the best. Transmission is perfect (for an auto); downshifts with rev matching seamlessly - no lurch or jerking. Drove it all out as hard as I could at the school & it took it all without a hitch. Never stumbled.
BUT, I love my DH. Better sound than Z06. Easier entry & exit. More room. All around fun. Satisfying power ( but could always use more). Puts a smile on my face every time I walk up to it, crank it & drive it. Auto is a little clunky in up shifts at less than heavy throttle & downshifts. Thought I wanted the remote start for cooling/heating but not really using it. Wish I had the Tremec. Recommend the school.

You have had a nice variety of sports car to compare. Thanks for your unbiased write up! I was real close to pulling the trigger on a 15 c7 zo6 but dealer wanted too much. I really loved my 19 c7 GS and regret selling but that's life. Coming from lots of mustangs, 12 Boss, 17gt350, 01,08,19 Bullits.
Traded a 21 mach1 for a 23 c8 HTC z51 and was very happy but got bored but sometimes wished I kept it so I ended up trading for the 25 DH no handling pkg.
I was ready for another manual but not too crazy over the techy stuff but love the way it really handles, sounds and looks!

I came from a 2021 GT Premium (10R80), a Roush Phase 2 and many other mods.

This car was a ton of fun to drive however IMHO it did eventually get kind of boring; you just strap yourself in, put it in D (or S) and mash the pedal to the floor; occasionally flicking the Playstation Flappy Paddle to shift gears if I was driving it like it was "manual".

I wanted a different experience and something a little more unique (at least for where I live).

Now I have a 2024 DH Premium (Tremec) with HP, a Whipple Stage 1 and many other mods. This car is a lot more "fun" to drive. It feels much more a driver's car experience and less about breaking land speed records or being the King of the 1320. At 50 years of age, and not owning a performance shop of any kind, I'm okay with that! There will be cars on the street that are faster, and there always will be, however there are not as many that stand out rolling down the street.

My Oxford White Dark Horse was one of the factors of consideration when starting BuffDaddyHQ.com as I knew that it was rather unqiue on the streets around Toronto and would be a great platform to showcase the end result of what using my detail products, as well as chemicals and detergents from a select few brands.

You’ve had all the mustangs I wanted to buy along the way. Good choices. I think the Z06’s are different class than the mustangs except maybe the newer GT500’s. Mustangs are just easier to enjoy. Great sound & better comfort but strong enough to excite. But my DH doesn’t quite reach the pinnacle my Z06 does. That’s how I justify to myself blowing the money to have both. 😂 I get a lot of grief from my friends & co-workers.

I think that if I could have kept my c8 too maybe I would never get bored again....🤣

I understand how you feel about the automatic. My Roush had a manual. Really enjoyed it. Had a service problem that local Ford dealer couldn’t resolve because he couldn’t get into the computer due to Roush software. Had to take it further down the road to Roush affiliated Ford dealer. Major hassle. Got worried it may strand me on a road trip. Ergo, traded for the Z06.
Really like the white & black. Nice touch

As title stated, What was your ride before the DH? And how was it compared to the DH? Was it an upgrade or downgrade? And what will be your next future ride?

As for me: 21 Sti, 19 WRX, 2011 WRX, 2008 Civic Si. DH feels like Im just driving a V8 with a good shifter, rather than a driving a car. Im considering this a downgrade from my Sti and 2011 WRX. Maybe I can trade it in for an M2 one of these days
I had a 1LT C8 which was really cool and pretty fun to drive, but I've been having a lot more fun in my DH. I'm not sure how that's possible, but it's what's happening.

It’s just a drivers car with the manual. Everything works well together!

Maybe that's part of it? I didn't care for the Vette being an auto. It did all the same auto stuff that all modern automatics tend to do... don't downshift far enough on WOT, hesitate when I manually hit the paddles, etc. I do prefer my stick. Maybe I would've kept it if it was a stick.

I took my buddies 23 C8 for the day. $105k sticker. The thing hooked up and pulled from a stop, super fast! Highway pulls, I didn’t think it was as impressive:
Way too impractical and by the end of the day it bored me.
I did like the convertible though.
At the end of the day, it needs a manual, trunk , and back seat to make it in my 2 car garage.
