Buy 2024 Mustang Superchargers

When Ford announced the S650 platform in late 2022, the Dark Horse immediately grabbed our attention. The moment order banks opened, we locked in our build—600A package, Recaro seats, and the handling package. These options have become our go-to for any Mustang we bring into the collection.

But the wait for this car was longer than expected. By the time it finally arrived over a year later, the excitement had faded. We weren’t expecting it to be the "ultimate Mustang," but we did have some high hopes. Unfortunately, it just didn’t deliver the thrill we were looking for.

After the initial excitement wore off, the Dark Horse ended up sitting in the corner alongside the rest of our collection, waiting for the next move. The reality was, the price tag didn’t quite match the performance. If we were going to get more bang for our buck, there was only one solution—a supercharger. In our minds, this is how the Dark Horse should have rolled off the production line: with a Gen 6 Whipple Supercharger.

There’s no denying that forced induction is the ultimate fix for a naturally aspirated engine’s shortcomings. To us, adding the Ford Performance Whipple Supercharger was the only way to truly unlock the Dark Horse’s potential. While tuning options were limited at the time, Ford left the door open for an easy upsell—a factory-backed power adder.

2024 Dark Horse Supercharger Install at a Ford Dealer
We chose the Ford Performance Whipple Supercharger not just for the performance gains, but also for the peace of mind that came with having it installed at a Ford dealership by ASE-certified technicians. Plus, this route secured a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty, making it a no-brainer.

Conveniently, Bird Kultgen Ford, a dealership we’ve trusted for years, was right down the road and more than capable of handling the install. When it comes to major upgrades like this, having an experienced dealership handle the work ensures everything is done right the first time.

If you’re considering a supercharger for your Mustang—whether at the time of purchase or after racking up some miles—Ford dealerships with certified technicians can take care of the install. Just be sure to confirm the warranty paperwork process with the dealer before moving forward.

Preventative Maintenance: Installing an Oil Separator
Once the Dark Horse was back in our hands, we took an extra step to protect the engine and supercharger by installing a J&L oil separator. This simple upgrade ensures the system stays clean and efficient for years to come.

An oil separator (catch can) works by filtering out excess oil vapor before it circulates through the intake system. Without it, oil blow-by can lead to carbon buildup on valves, gunked-up intake components, and reduced fuel efficiency. By capturing the oil mist, an oil separator helps maintain optimal engine performance and keeps things running smoothly.

Dyno Results: Before & After Supercharging
While the seat-of-the-pants dyno had us convinced, we needed some real-world numbers to back it up. Before installing the Whipple, we strapped the Dark Horse onto the dyno to establish a baseline.

Stock 2024 Dark Horse Dyno Results:
(SAE Corrected)

  • 435.6 HP
  • 383.2 lb-ft Torque
S650 Mustang We Added A Ford Performance Supercharger To Our Dark Horse + DYNO 1740143321502-u2

Whipple Supercharged 2024 Dark Horse Dyno Results:
(SAE Corrected)

  • 694.9 HP
  • 558.2 lb-ft Torque
S650 Mustang We Added A Ford Performance Supercharger To Our Dark Horse + DYNO 1740143326560-ac

Total Gains:
  • +259 HP
  • +195 lb-ft Torque
S650 Mustang We Added A Ford Performance Supercharger To Our Dark Horse + DYNO 1740143332041-al

Needless to say, the supercharger completely transformed the Dark Horse. It now delivers the kind of power that makes the price tag feel justified.

Would we have preferred Ford to offer a supercharged version from the factory? Absolutely. But with the Whipple installed, we finally have the Mustang we were hoping for.

Nice! I actually saw this video the other day as I'm about to go through the same process with my Dark Horse. FP Whipple Stage 1 being installed end of April after the snow melts. Looking forward to it! Used to have that level power in my 21 GT and wanted that in my DH since I plan on keeping this one for as long as they will let me drive!

Looking forward to the results. I'm keeping my Dark Horse stock for a few more years until my warranty expires and have more money saved up. Plan to add a whipple and swap the plastic pieces out with carbon fiber.

You get a warranty with the Ford Performance Whipple (Stage 1) installed at a Ford dealership.

I'd rather have the engine go through the stress of boost NOW, while it is still in warranty, so it can be fixed at someone elses cost. If something is going to go catostropically wrong it'll do it pretty quickly and Ford/Ford Performance can pony up and replace the motor.

However, if the money is your primary driving factor, that I can understand. Stuff ain't cheap!

IMO the engine is the last thing I would worry about. I'd be more concerned with the cats and trans

A supercharged dark horse is a scary thing. That’s awesome.

I just wish it was priced reasonably.

If Chevy could get the Camaro SS 1le at a 50k price point, ford could do it.

bet they’d sell a ton of them at that price.
