If your aim is to get a car that is going to hold its value, just about any non-specialty Mustang is a terrible idea.

In all other cases, get what you want, and don't make comparisons. I could sit down and be upset that I have a car that, on paper, makes more power than certain German alternatives, but in reality makes nearly 100 less at the wheels.

I didn't buy mine for public approval or to be the fastest car on the road, or to have a stack of dollar bills on wheels. I wanted something fun and rev-happy. I could have chosen differently if I had a different goal in mind.

You're throwing more than $80,000 at a souped-up GT. You're going to lose money on this car, and it's probably not the best bang for your buck. But who cares? Are you going to have fun with the car, or are you more concerned with what X, Y, and Z think?

My dealer has a Ford monopoly in our small state-it costs $4,500 to ship a car up here. They wouldn't give me any discount on my order! So I go elsewhere for service, ha!

"Fair weather ride for my wife"!?!? Is your wife named Danica? 486 HP ain't enough? Unless she's going to the drag strip I think you'll find the so called "stock" GT is a well balanced hi-performance street ride. I suggest she drive it a while before you slap a blower on it!

I have to disagree. The SC really makes such a big difference, especially in lower rpm (aka normal road use).

Huh, "normal driving" "makes a difference"? Your statements are contradictions. Are you talking about normal driving or getting on it!?

If you're talking about going fast that is the nature of the overhead cam design. If we want to go fast the engine shows it's stuff 4k RPM to redline.

Throttle pickup. If I turn left someplace, I can get to 30mph so superfast with this awesome SC sound... It brings a smile on my face. Before-SC I felt that pickup just... lagged. Not sure if that's the right term but I felt that the pickup just wasn't what I expected from a 500hp V8. Not anymore.

Now that it's broken in, the other day I wanted to see what she'd do in a straight line. From a rolling start I took it to 7k in 1st & it laid 30 feet of scratch when I grabbed 2nd, let off to 3rd I looked down she was doing 90 mph-just like that!? Good enough for me The manual is really fun on a stretch of twisting blacktop. I'm not sure I want a sc pushing the envelope on a curvy mountain road!? Don't get me wrong, 800 hp sc sounds like shit eating grin fun!

Automatic but I run it a lot in 'manual' mode. It's fun.

The SC is really, really something else.

I would get a ford supercharger installed for about 13K and skip the package

There are many shops that are ASE certified that can file the warranty paperwork

the half shafts are already strong enough IMHO

Unless you are going to beat the snot out of it the Cats will survive.

As others have said I hope you are in this for the long haul or have really deep pockets because you won't be able to give that car away, these things depreciate like rocks falling from high altitude already, any money you put into it going to be gone.

That being said, I budgeted money for the blower and was going to put it on my car but once I got it and drove it I decided against it.

and 68 effn thousand dollars .... JFC six more you are in a C8 that will eat even a supercharged GT for lunch

Buy the cars as built, drive it a month and then decide of you are willing to toss another 20K into it.

@Neggytive : The CATS will not survive on a boosted application, exp a Whipple, even if you take it easy. The Whipple Stage 1 tune will give you the best longevity, but even that tune will kill the CATS eventually. The other issue is that when the CATS go, you may or may not get a warning. It will start chucking pieces out the rear, or worse, clog the system, and then you are really in trouble.

If you get a SC, I would suggest you spend the coin and do the exhaust. You have to pay to play, and you roll that dice too long; well, it's just like going bareback. You're all good until you're not.
