Lol.! Picked up my Dark Horse just over a week ago.. Did notice oil was low, should of asked them to top it up but i forgot!

Been trying to sort out this very same question today..! its bloody stupid to say the least
I came to the conclusion is was supplied with 5w30 as this is on the oil fill. The daft online manual is generic and covers the GT too.. Going to top up and then dump it all afetr 1000 miles for Mobil 1 5w30

Been trying to phone the supplying dealer.. Lookers Ford Sheffield but they NEVER answer their phones, OR reply to my many emails ..What a joke they are !!

As per my earlier posting if it wasn’t for me asking in advance for the top up from the dealer I too would have been equally confused.
As you say the top of the filler cap is marked 5/30 but the pdf copy of the manual makes it equally clear it’s 0/30.
The code is a Castrol code.
Just what difference in the real world this all makes is anyones guess.

So looked into this more..the 0w30 is designed for the EU market and better on colder climates
have bought a ltr locally to top up.. although from my Google search UK cars are filled with 5w30 apparently..
Anyhow for my oil change at 1000 mls and future, will be using Mobil 1 EPS 5w30 i really wont be driving it in freezing conditions, and the car resides in my garage... and the USA guys use this too

They probably don't want to keep track of two oil caps

According to the oil geeks, many 0W-30 oils are made out of a different base oil (including PAO or Esters) than the same brand 5W30 (typically a group III oil), so that they can pass the 0W standard. They also say that this creates a better overall oil despite being 'thinner'.

Again this depends on brand and even which specific oil in the brand.

0W vs 5W isn't going to matter much unless you're driving your mustang in very, very low (way below freezing) temps.

Other complications are American vs Euro standards in not just oil but packaging and labeling.

Either weight is fine, it's a bonus if the oil meets the standards in the owners manual, but I'd love to see Ford deny a warranty claim because the wrong oil was used and it was a brand-name 5W30. or 0W30....

For a top up precisely no impact at all. There is a lot of oil in that engine.

Yes, you're over-thinking it. Just put 5w-30 in it unless it's really cold then forget it.
