Hey Guys:

So I am a little disappointed. I thought I had ordered at the perfect timing to get the car for Spring, dealer is now telling me I might not see it till June.

On 1/15 I placed an order at the dealer. Ford confirmed it 1/23. They are not building the car until the week of 4/20. Is this normal?

I am super excited about getting my toy dream car, but I cannot help but think, why are they sitting on the order for 3 months, when I would like to buy it today.

Basically, I would love someone to tell me this is normal. I really wish I would have ordered earlier, I figured ordering 2nd week of January would get me the car around April 1st, I didn’t realize that I wouldn’t get it till June. In June the 27’s are right around the corner.

I ordered the closest new car to what I had in Highschool, Adriatic Blue, FX package, active valve exhaust 6 Speed MT.

Is ford sitting on a build for 3 months normal?

I don't know if the production & delivery dates you mentioned are normal, but I placed a similar order on 1/8/26 at my local California dealer with the almost identical dates:

Based on what I've read 3 to 6 months is normal build to order. I also was expecting to have to order a car. As I got closer to purchase I kept an eye out. Suddenly, a dealer that was only 4 mi from my house got the car I wanted. First color choice and all. When I reviewed the Monroney sticker I was shocked. It had everything I wanted minus about $583 in purchasable options. Sign from God 🤣 I paid well below MSRP. If you are not an effective negotiator or are not comfortable with confrontation or dealing with others who have strong personalities you should bring a friend or a family member who is. Its easier to negotiate on a car they have on the lot. Negotiating on a car you're ordering is more challenging.
I have searched the entire country looking for a non-performance package, Adriatic blue, 6/MT and active valve exhaust. One car in the entire country matched it and it was about 6.5 hours away. As for the negotiating, I have bought tons of cars over the years, I am quite good at it, but had a hard time negotiating on a custom order. I ended up just getting x-plan, which is essentially invoice. I know I could do better on one on the lot, almost bought a 2025 for $8,000 off MSRP, but I really wanted this FX, in this color.
