I have to say, I'm getting tired of chasing stuff for this car that's either not offered here, is too expensive to import, or sold by local retailers who seem to be price gouging.

I took I liking to the 2024 Rouch Intake upgrade. I mean, it might provide a small power bump, but I just like the way it looks.

I first spotted it being offered by Tickford, but they don't publish a price, only a "Get A Quote" section. Well, I filled out a quote request three weeks ago and haven't heard anything back. Clearly, they don't want my money.

I then notice Mustang Motorsport have it listed on their site now too...................................at $1200! 😡

Roush 2024+ Mustang 5.0L V8 Air Intake System

I mean, come on, $1200 for two air filters and two plastic lids. The same thing from the Roush website sits at $550 USD, which roughly converts to $855 AUD. I do realise there are importation and tax costs, but an extra $345? Even still, $855 is ridiculous.

A set of similar oiled K&N filters tops out at $200 or so, and the aFe Dry Flow versions are $320. Are those clear plastic lids really worth $880 - $1000 for the pair?

And that's before looking at the wider aftermarket for S650 in Australia, its pathetic! Everything is overpriced and most of it lacks a product picture. How is someone supposed to buy something without even seeing it? Just seems like these places have no interest in selling anything. I also wonder why the Ford Performance catalog offering is so limited here. And then you have businesses crying poor, that the retail market has crashed, people aren't spending money. No bloody wonder.

I know, first world problems. In no way is this affecting my enjoyment of the car, but rather a frustration linked to it.
A a fool, and his money soon part.

$1200 for no HP gain is ridiculous. Ppl in the US have dynoed various aftermarket S650 intake systems and found no HP gain whatsoever, regardless of claims by the ppl selling them of a few extra ponies

Save your doh DFB

Something I discovered by chance the other day on the S650 is the hidden indicator repeaters within the grill. Not sure why these exist like this, probably to cover some an export market regulation of some kind.

I think it's lights also, it's on all the cars, something to do with seeing the lighting or both sides from all angles. I have seen a more detailed explanation somewhere.

Out making some noise after work...........................

S650 Mustang This Just Got Real! IMG-3299-F

Must have been Race Red day. On the way out, I spotted an FN GT Fastback with the black pack. On the way home, I had a FM GT Fastback rolling behind me then alongside in the right lane. As we pulled up side by side at the lights, I wound my window down to exchange a thumbs up and hello, but the driver was having none of it. Actually, he/she (I couldn't tell) was quite arrogant. I usually get/give a wave and thumbs up when I spot another Mustang on the road, not this time.

Back to garage washing now that it's warming up.

Carpro Reset was on the car today, both wheels and paint, Amplify the drying aid, OG TD on the tyres. With the car still outgassing, the interior glass needed another clean today to remove the film that tends to build up.

Driving the car yesterday, the engine is certainly starting to free up a little. It also sounds so good as I start to further extend the rev range. At the moment, I think I will leave the exhaust alone, in Track mode its more than loud enough. If I did change something, removal of the central resonator would help balance some of the volume, at the moment it's all from the rear. That's something I enjoyed about the Borla I had on the old car, the noise was evenly distributed from the engine to the tail pipes. But, as I said, the S650 is noisy enough as it is.

Took the Mustang out for a decent run this morning. The car sits very nicely on the road at 100 kph, the lack of road noise quite pleasing.

I will say though, Ford need to address the "Keep Hands on Steering Wheel" warning. It activates in a very unpredictable manner, with or without hands on the steering wheel. If you actually had one hand off the wheel, then respond to the warning by repositioning your hands, it keeps on going for far too long. I also hate how it mutes the audio, which is annoying when listening to a podcast or have your favorite song pumping.

This is supposed to be a driver assistance feature to address inattentiveness and distraction. The irony is, the warning itself is extremely distracting. This is a case of a technical feature being implemented to account for the lowest common denominator. The same applies to autonomous braking, lane keep, radar cruise control, blind-spot indicators........................useless stuff on what is supposed to be a drivers car.

Just turn off Lane Assist and it will stop giving you that "Keep Hands on Steering Wheel" warning.

I had the same problem when I drove home from the dealership. Very annoying as stated.
Mentioned it to the dealer principal when he called me to see how the car was going.
He said this was a Ford problem affecting many models. The solution if you don't want to turn off Lane Assist (as mentioned by Valiant) is the move the wheel occasionally when on a straight road (and no movement on steering wheel). Haven't tried it yet but will soon.

Well there you go, I wasn't aware it was teamed with the lane assist. Considering I have two hands and two eyes, I really don't need something to assist me to stay in a lane, so OFF it goes!

Once again, useless tech that is only put on the car to reduce the car company's liabilities, and that applies to all cars, not just Mustang. As funny as this might sound, sometimes it's quite refreshing to get back into one of my Falcon's. It might be lacking in tech, but you just crank the engine over, put it in gear, then drive. Far less distraction.

It's habit now....turn on accessories, change to sport,..clutch in, start engine, enjoy noise.... double click lane change and turn off....reverse out of driveway..,..find as many intersections as I can to go up and down gears to listen to that wonderful tune :like::clap::like::rockon:.,,....do love the rev match..the old ankles just don't bend that way anymore......listen to wife call me a child..,( I know she secretly loves it too)

So do you have to turn off lane assist every time you start it or is it a permanent on/off?

Very happy for you Deyon.
After such a long wait, it's a bit surreal, isn't it?

The Race Red and Black Pack is a great looking combination. :like:
(I still reckon the front pony should stay chrome to contrast against the grille - 1st world problems!)

I'm jealous you got the window sticker... I did not.
My dealer (part of a group of dealers) has their vehicle PD done off site, and by the time I asked to keep it, it was already removed and destroyed. :frown:
I was probably 36 hours too late to ask.
It's a nice little keepsake to have though.

Looks like your leave was well timed... get some odd jobs out of the way, and then time to enjoy your new toy.
Talk to the dealer they can print up a new one.
