No Tuning (standard Whipple tune)

He does say the car has long tube headers.

This was run on E30, basically adding some E85 to your tank. The kit comes with a 3.75 pulley for when you want to run 91-93.

So E30 definitely helps in some situations.

I wonder what tuning will add to what has already been accomplished?

Sorry to share 8 month old news, but I thought this was pretty cool when I ran across it, so I shared it here.

ARGH

I just noticed the "STD" in the upper right hand corner.

In an older thread @Q6543 says is is advisable to swap belts when going fro 3.5 to 3.75

K060815 is for the smaller pulley.

Still, this is monster power. I wish he had shown the SAE number instead of just STD, but it is what it is (marketing).

I mean how much more timing can you dial into that? They are probably real close to the limit with that whipple tune

There is a lot more to tuning than timing, especially on this engine.

spark timing - and there is more to it than simply adding timing, in fact, retarding timing at the top end of the quarter mile is used by professional and serious amateur drag racing teams

Example:
http://www.insidetopalcohol.com/threads/question-about-timing-retard.45097/
BBC bracket car alky injection:

Timing static 32* 1/8 mile ET 5.04 1/4 mile 7.90 167mph
Timing static 36* 1/8 mile ET 4.99 1/4 Mile 7.89 166mph

Timing 38 at launch and retarded to 31 at 5 seconds out= 4.97 1/8 7.84 169mph

fuel - I do not pretend to know everything that can be accomplished here

camshaft timing (50 degrees of movement in .02 seconds, with the exhaust and intake independent of each other) can be refined and customized - this is a big part of what makes the Coyote such a great engine

Torque management and all kinds of other stuff. Anyway, it is not just about advancing the timing until you are on the ragged edge of breaking the ring lands. The tuners that are playing with all of this stuff are going to have a great package.

In addition, it is no secret that GM has done a better job programming the ten speed automatic. It is the same transmission in our Mustangs. Competent tuners can probably make a lot of improvements there, and they have some years of experience already on this transmission (although I do not know if anybody has been as serious about it - or able - as GM engineers)
