I had covers on my S550 and then switched out to RENEGADE SMOKED TAIL LIGHTS and the quality was waaaaaaaaaaay better. A full housing just seems better than a "slap on".

Chris C has some tail light options on his Instagram. He was at Mustang Week last week and FORM and DIOD had booths there. I like those smoked ones on the left and may actually add that to my build list although this car is white so maybe the right side; dunno yet!

I usually wait a bit when new aftermarket lights are released. Real world usage usually finds some issues that need to be worked out. I find the red tail lights a bit too bright when parked and turned off.

Agreed! I had mine tinted, but the tint started to peel up in the crease. Had them retinted, and same thing again. I have the set you've ordered being delivered today.

post a review and pics please as well as before install. I never use tint its always been aggravating to say the least. Though I do like the look of those tinted housings. I have had a few acrylic covers that look really nice as well.

That crease is just too tight for it to stick on the farthest out. Zero issues with the middle and inside. I've got all my lenses tinted and with this exception, everything else is holding up excellent.

I'll be putting them on this afternoon and will send pics and thoughts

Installed

Just like most molded plastic, not an exact fit, have to push it into place. Drivers side was a little tighter fit than passenger side. Clear 3M tape, placed in areas that is black, so you can't see it.

Overall, I like them, fit isn't perfect, but only you will know it. Unless you've got some Mustang snob pointing out the darker taillights, haha.

Pop the trunk to install, it's pretty tight with it closed and didn't want to chance scratching the inside edges. I've got the trunk pull strap and it closed right up with no issues. It also brings the light housing almost flush with the truck lid.

Not to be a wet blanket, and I can already hear the howls of ‘get off my lawn’...

Those are -noticeably- dimmer with the covers installed. This matters if you are ever rear ended.

My neighbor rear ended a man-bun wearing dude in a honda civic, lowered, fart can exhaust, go fast stickers.... You probably know someone like this. This was in Fairfax County, Virginia, on rt 123. The FCPD officer had actually written her up as she was protesting ‘I couldn’t see his brake lights’. Officer looks the car and asks owner to fire it up - he does, next he says put on the brakes - can’t even make them out in the daylight. He voids her citation and charges the driver in front with the collision, equipment, and one other I’ve forgotten.

Of course, YMMV.
and yes, I’ll get off your lawn now.

Just to provide some context to @smurfslayer post above; here the rules are "You must be able to see the brake lights from 50 feet away, In daylight". If you can't, you get a ticket for it or worse.

I used to have covers on my S550 (see below) but was warned by a cop friend who said "You will get pulled for that".

Swapped them to the smoked style and never looked back.

My Dark Horse is white so am undecided if I would do the smoked again or just leave them as is.

yea that was my concern as well was hoping for a more illuminated look when on and darker or more subdued when off. Guess ill just have to see about those complete modules from diode that are grey

perfectly valid observations and always a good idea to heed warnings like this. I need to see how they look in the fl sun may be a straight up no go not even from a le stand point from a nug,nug ugga dugga driver perspective.

Is that just the rear running lights and not brake lights as long as the brake lights are easily visible its nota le issue here but as i said to smurfslayer there are some real tools down her in tampa and would rear end you even with a pair of suns strapped into your tail lights. Looks good to me though.
