Hey guys, has anyone color tinted the DRL's in their RTR grille?

I saw that RTR colored the lights green on their Mystichrome Mustang they have been bringing to their shows. Maybe if you reach out to them, they may tell you what they did.

I talked to one of the guys during Mustang Week. He just said they were painted. Their drift cars have colored lenses too. I ordered a set of the DRL's only Tuesday. I'm just going to take them apart and spray the lense on the inside.

Ahhh gotcha. I wonder if colored headlight tint would work. I know trying to cut it would be a pain but I see the rolls of that stuff all over Amazon and it's fairly cheap.

I got the lights today, it looks like they will be a little more difficult to separate than headlights. So, I'm going to take out the originals and use them for trial and error. The new ones don't require the additional harness like the first run lights do. We shall see what happens, it'll either be a success or a waste of $300. 🤣

I tinted them a while back but removed it. The blue made the amber of the turn signal disappear. Not so sure that’s legal so I removed it. It looked good though, IMO.

Interesting comment about legality. I'm not sure about the Fed, but most states (including New Mexico where I live) only allow white or amber front lighting. There are several vehicles in my surrounding neighborhood which have 'red-colored' headlight surrounds apparently turned on whenever driven. This also brings up the illegality of smoke-colored license plate covers. You see these types of highlights a lot, but you never see anyone pulled over for them (or so it appears?). I'd be interested if anyone here will admit they have been pulled over for these infractions?

I had RGB LED grille lights on my 2018, they weren’t part of the signals. (Still have them on my wife’s 2020.)While getting fuel one day I had them on and there was a cop next to me. I asked him if it was illegal to have them. He said they can be any color you want as long as they aren’t red or blue. He finished that statement up saying….I’d pull you over for your window tint before I would the lights. Lol, I took the window tint off when I got home and had 20% put on. 😂.

Where did you end up with these? Were you able to do an RGB conversion to the RTR grill lights? Or did you just tint them?

I tinted the RTR LED’s, I bought the RGB set that are on the other two cars.

Dang. Was hoping you had luck opening them up and changing the LEDs. Was debating ordering a pair myself and tinkering with them. For now, I picked up a set of "snap on" covers from someone in a Facebook group.
