Monday, 5/18/26, an unidentified driver drove his Tesla Cyber Truck into a lake approximately 25 miles north of the DFW Metroplex in TX.

As many/most of us know; passenger vehicles (whether EV or ICE) don't really play well with water of much more than 6 ins of depth. In short; drive your ride into a lake and bad **** is likely to happen. DUH!

When police responded to the stranded Cyber Truck in the lake; the driver told them he was trying out the vehicle's "advertised wading function".

The wading function section of the Cyber Truck's owners manual states: "The maximum wade depth is approximately 32 in. (815 mm) measuring from the bottom of the tire." 🤣

Gotta wonder if the drivers insurance policy covers "stupid ****"?

32 inches is actually a lot deeper than most ICE vehicles are designed to go

Most ICE vehicles say no higher than the center of the hubs, which by then has water trying to come thru the door seals, is swamping the differential and transmission vents, but most of all the air intake hoses that feed the airbox are notoriously low on some cars and driving into more than a few inches of water will force water into the airbox, the intake manifold, and will frequently hydrolock the motor.

As an Insurance appraiser I had more than a few total loss claims due to hydrolocking the motor

The golden rule is, if you can't see the bottom, get your wife (or husband) to wade in front of the car".
And, don't drive through fast moving water.

I'm aware of one or two factory vehicles capable of operating in the depths being discussed. The driver of the Cybertruck confirmed that model is not one of them.

People routinely grenade their motors going through even a few inches of water. They aren't aware where the intakes are. They fail to appreciate liquids do not compress.

Worse, drivers that don't realize water weighs 8 lbs, 3.6 kgs, a gallon. An uncompressible force, at even a small scale, can take control of any vehicle to quite easily. I mean, aircraft carriers float.

Glad the driver made it out with only their pride being hurt.

What else floats?

A duck.

Exactly. So, logically . . .

If . . . she . . . weighs the same as a duck . . . she's made of wood!

Therefore?

A witch! A witch!

We shall use my larger scales.

UPDATE:

Dang it! Now I gotta eat crow over thinking the driver was one of those dumb *** millenials or Gen Xers. 😉 😆

FORUM: So how's that crow?

Wiley: MEH! It's OK if you take the feathers off first.

The driver of the above referenced Cyber Truck (aka "Silver Submarine"), Jimmy Jack McDaniels was arrested by Grape Vine, TX PD; Monday 5/18/26 after questioning.

Mr Jimmy Jack (thank you Mom for NOT giving me 2 first names!) "was arrested on charges of operation of a vehicle in a closed section of a park/lake and numerous water safety equipment violations"...

Oh! BTW: You'll no doubt be shocked to know: Damage to the vehicle caused by driving in water is not covered by the warranty, according to the manual.
