I used the Waffle Towel along with the Invisible Glass cleaner and it left a bunch of lint. What am I doing wrong?

Are the towels brand new? Have they been washed yet?

A waffle weave towel is usually chosen for glass because of a lack of linting, so one of two things have happened.

- Did you wash the towel on its own or with other towels and/or fabrics? (I always wash microfiber towels together, but never with other fabrics.) This could mean you have transferred lint into these new towels. First would be to try washing and drying the towel on its own, retest and see what you get.

- If the towel is still linting, or you did in fact wash it on its own to begin with, then you have a dud towel. TRC are pretty good with returns/replacements.

Another mistake is using fabric softener. I leaves a residue on the towels. Once done they are only good for oil rags.

I've not encountered lint when using any towel.

Any new towels I receive, they go straight into the wash, hot water, no detergent. The washer spins fast enough, I hang them out to air dry. If I do use a dryer, low temps.

When I do use a detergent, I use a dedicated, microfiber towel wash. Again, with hot water.

Different towels, different uses, are washed separately.

I have found microfiber towels across some (different markers of glass, different automotive manufacturers) glass surfaces can be "grippy", sometimes leaving faint "streaks" on the surface. Things I've done to correct for this:

- Clean glass out of direct sunlight

- If a new or close to new towel, wash again, no detergent

- The towel might be too dry when trying to clean the surface. Use a bit more cleaner

- Move the towel in one direction only

- Switch to a 100% cotton cloth

Target sells these:
https://www.target.com/p/6pc-flour-...s/-/A-93662058?preselect=90006496#lnk=sametab

I have used these on glass, shiny Macbook screens, glasses and auto LCD screens without issue.

I follow same wash and separation rules for these as I do the microfiber. Even if using for the same purpose, these cotton cloths do no mingle with the microfiber. Specific ones for the autos are only used for the autos.

They can be used two ways:

- If following up from a microfiber that's left those tiny streaks, I gently use it across the surface, dry

- If using by itself, I use enough cleaner so they glide, anything left behind evaporating off

For screens only, the Interior Detailer works well, as does any of the glass cleaners referenced.

I washed the waffle towel with other microfiber towels with regular detergent, before using them for the first time.

I didn't use a softener. Put them to dry in the dryer with low heat.

An additional thought, if you've exhausted options and still see lint or small particles, check the home's dryer venting system and ensure it's clear.

My dryer vent exists to a small bend, into a riser and straight out through the roof. While it accumulates small amounts of lint and junk throughout the year, I still sweep it.

My neighbor's on the other hand, it takes a rather curious route. When he had his cleaned professionally for the first time, they swept out a surprising amount of lint and fibers.

Many know, some don't: these venting systems can become restricted and blocked. If using the dryer's "sanitation mode" (maximum heat) and the venting system is partially or near fully clogged, it can present a fire hazard. At lesser amounts of blockage, the lint doesn't move as intended, stays suspended in the air with the circulating fabrics.

I use the waffle towels as well as the large microfiber towels from Harbor Freight. I'm sure there are better options but these are cheap and work for me.
