:headbang:Apparently in my life Mustangs and hurricanes go hand in hand. Last August (2023) my car was in transport in the middle of Hurricane Idalia. I picked it up from the dealer on September 1, the day after the hurricane had just come through and made a mess of our town. I was still without power, and was fortunate the roads were clear enough to make it to the dealer who was far enough away they didn’t have any damage and still had power.

Fast forward to 2024 and I’m scheduled for the Mustang Unleashed driving experience this Wednesday, August 7. I had a reservation at Camping World Racing Resort from Sunday through Thursday just to take a few days to get out of town and relax. When I saw the forecast for Tropical Storm Debby (expected to be a hurricane by landfall) on Saturday I decided not to risk getting stuck in Charlotte with the camper, so we opted to get a hotel. Now the forecast for Debby keeps getting worse for our town. I’m glad we won’t be in the middle of it, but I hate not being there near my parents, kids and grandkids to help out if it makes a complete mess. Idalia took out around 40 trees on the farm where our kids live, and that was a pain to clean up. Fortunately we didn’t have any major damage on our properties other than trees down.

It just seems that in my life Mustang events coincide with hurricanes.šŸ˜ I love my Mustang, but I can certainly do without the hurricanes!

Update: Hurricane (now Tropical Storm) Debby is slowwwwwly making its way through my hometown. All the family lost power between 10-11 this morning. Hopefully it gets restored before too long. They’re warning of up to a week for restoration. My parents and kids are fine, but I know it’s tough with my 4 little grandkids running around (4, 1, 1, and 4 weeks old). My boys families are huddled together in the house with a generator and window a/c so at least it’s not completely miserable, but that gets old quickly. Road is about 1 1/2 feet underwater and it’s not supposed to stop raining for at least 24 hours. šŸ˜

Meanwhile, I’m in Charlotte with my Mustang and the weather has been great. It’s supposed to start raining tomorrow, so who knows what it will be like on Wednesday at the Mustang Unleashed driving event.
