I have done a " Road Trip " along these roads . Couple decades back i did the Broken Hill to Cobar section of 460km in my High Powered Classic Aussie Muscle car in a time i probably shouldnt say , was a time you could get away with it . #120minutes Do the maths , actually ran out of petrol stopping at the roadhouse at Cobar , 120 litres droptank ... What a buzz it was

I think the 90's, and maybe late 80's were the golden age for drivers. Cars weren't as capable, but were still OK, and needed to be driven properly. Govt and cops hadn't really cottoned onto the revenue side of enforcement, so weren't as ever present as now.
So you could get away with some serious speeding for more than a km or three.
I remember following an M5 in my Prelude at up to 210kmh for about 20kms. And coming back from the Taupo track chasing a 911 in my 325i at 200 kmh for about the same distance.
That's an almost certain recipe for a period of walking now.

A special Winter, Christmas in July, Albury Street Cruise coming up this Saturday 11th July 2026, from 3 pm. From the word on the street, it should be a big afternoon.
