Ford has to if lotus could at a great price point and from what I be reading and seeing it looks like a pretty good car. Chevy was able to do it as well so I’m sure Ford can do it and make it pretty affordable because it seems like mid engine cars are the next wave
Agreed, it's the sensible direction to go in. Especially if Ford does what gm didn't. Keeps the front engine traditional mustang, and offers a mid-engine variant at the same time.

Jim Farley said a few months ago that they "Had a lot of surprises and aces up their sleeves that would surprise and excite performance enthusiasts". That comment wasn't about the s650 specifically, just ford performance cars in general.

I know it's natural to drum up hype for upcoming products. But it would be odd to use that sort of language if the "surprises" you had, were just evolutions of the performance mustangs we have now.

Oh I don't know... +10HP had people in orgasmic stupor.

Maybe Farley meant the order book and configurator would be released TOGETHER and 2 months before production start, going forward.
