I must say, I enjoy what people say about “don’t drive summer tires under 40, you’ll die!” Lol. I live in New York, this winter it got as low as 10°. I drove in snow with the damn things in well below freezing weather. And now it’s getting warmer and I still love them and they’re mint. It’s not that serious. If you drive it respectfully and acknowledge the tires aren’t meant for that, you’ll be mint. I didn’t go heavy throttle at any point under 40° and they were perfectly okay.

Thanks for the response!
Does your car sit for weeks at a time in the single digits on cold concrete floor?
My detached garage isn’t heated or insulated .

Yeah, I think there’s a bit of institutional exaggeration based on the mfgr. warning. Thankfully, I moved to a climate more suitable to human habitation but...

back in the 1990’s I had a GT 5.0 that I’d swapped 17” los profile Yoks on to. They stuck GREAT in normal temps. Winter came around, and I was in DC metro area. We had a cold snap where temps dropped to -2 ... And I don’t mean Celsius. Wife convinced me to go out to dinner. We came out and started the car sitting for what seemed like 10-15 minutes to feel any meaningful heat. I go to take off, absolutely hating the decision to get the FMS clutch...

This was a comically ham footed display of me gently letting out the clutch and spin, spin, spin for about 10 take offs. I had the baby the throttle just above stalling. Took a few laps of the parking lot before venturing out. It was 20 minutes to get home, the car never did get warm, just less cold.

The lowest I had the Trofeos out for the 4 months I had them was 42F. They were pretty shagged by then and I was tip toeing already before it got cold.

Yeah. A good amount of throttle will make them spin in freezing temps. But I’ve never had a problem. I drove in snow and rain. No issues.

Tires have improved over the last 3 decades. No, the tires won’t stick as well, or last as long but they’re not going to blow up like the death star.

This is good info.
I have always bought a second set of all-season tires and wheels for the cold and really don’t drive a ton in the winter.
I’d rather spend the money on a new set of wider summer tires and wheels for a more aggressive look.
I’ll keep these stock tires/wheels for winter and in a couple years put all seasons on these stock wheels

I ran mine right until first snowfall in the winter and in the moorings they were like driving on Skates until they warmed up... but i knew i wasn't gonna have grip and drove accordingly...

but i DD my 24GT PP so the stock tires went as soon as i could get my Continental
