Didn't they used to sell dummy o2 sensors that would always report good on the computer even if the cats were removed?

That’s what I’m running.

The O2 sensor sends a signal to the computer that it uses to determine how much fuel to put into the cylinders . . .
or do I seriously misunderstand how the engine works?

How does running this part affect the air fuel ratio determination?

I believe the upstream o2 sensor above the cat is used for computer calculations and adjustment. The downstream sensor just detects a failed catalyst so it's easy to spoof.

What is the sensor called. I have kooks long tube headers with high flow green cats on my s650 When I accelerate hard I get a cel. I can reset the code and drive in town just fine but when I get chance to get on the car, the code comes back.

They are just called o2 simulators or dummy o2 sensors. I haven't really looked for them since the early 2000s. Not sure if they are still a thing with all the new federal emissions laws.
