On Monday we headed north to Aucklnd to catch up with friends, check out the new IKEA etc. We did a pitstop, actually pee stop my range is less than the car's these days, and as we headed off again an unmarked patrol car was just ahead of us. So it was a very legal drive from there. As we hit the motorway the cop was 5 or 6 cars ahead in the left lane, traffic was very heavy and I was in the right lane.
I then had a w ⚓ right on my arse in a RAV4. As soon as a gap cleared I moved left and chummie buried his boot. Now, normally I'd warn someone of a cop ahead, but this guy was a dick and I didn't.
So, guess what happened?
Yup, flashing reds and blues and more revenue for the Govt, probably $120 at that speed.
Just to add a little salt, I gave a double toot as we passed them. He wasn't a happy chappie.
PS. He also deserved the fine for being a blind dick, our plain cars are festooned with aerials on the roofs, and the drivers wear high vis. Pretty hard to miss.

There is a YouTube channel I've started watching: "Dashcam Lessons". People from all over send in clips from their cameras. They have specific "karma" reels. Worth a look.

The very best dash cam videos come from Australia and New Zealand via YouTube. Here's an example:

Be warned as even the ladies get a bit profane at times.

Thanks for the link, but I think some of the best (worst) come from Russia, where, apparently, traffic laws are just a theory, not a practice.

My favorite compilations are from this guy below, with amusing commentary. I don't recognize the accent, I'm not sure where he is from. If someone does something really stupid, too much throttle, oversteer and then crash, that's called "going full mustang". LOL

No doubt either the Chinese taught Russians how to drive or vice versa. I tried to figure out the system of driving in China and couldn't do it after watching from my hotel room several stories up. Their lanes are painted exactly like ours but they mean literally nothing. They have a way of driving right upon each and next to each other but never touch or wreck. They're actually better drivers than U.S. drivers for not having wrecks in that cluster-fk. I would never attempt to drive there. They never honk or get mad either. They just put the car in an open space or make one.

Yesterday I saw a kid in a scroungy looking, very lowered, ghetto looking rice rocket making a LOT of noise but going nowhere slowly at what sounded like 10K RPM. I stayed behind him which was just the flow of traffic and all of the sudden the engine just exploded in a huge cloud of grey matter. It looked like a mortar shell going off. Maybe the lesson is, if you're going to make a bunch of noise, go somewhere with it. I'm sure there are a lot more lessons.....like know what you're doing to a car besides making noise through a coffee can muffler. I guess he's doing the best he can with not much.
