Definitely not a Focus RS if you are thinking of having a baby seat in there. I have one sitting in the garage, the interior is small for a hatchback. I had a hatchback sti at the same time as my RS so baby seat goes in the Subaru. Eventually sold the sti after ten years and got a Jeep gladiator when 2nd daughter was born. The taller truck made getting a baby in and out of baby seat easier.
I wish there was still (or even recently produced) a hatchback WRX STI. Was it 2014 Subaru discontinued that?

…but for happy reasons. Our first child will be born in about five months and, as we are prepping our lives for our new addition, I’m going to have to sell my 24 GT PP (we are keeping my wife’s ‘17 since it’s paid off and there is a loan on mine). Now that I’m starting to search the market I am wondering: What would you choose for a replacement car if you were having to buy a four-door vehicle?
I sold my 14 GT and bought a GTI when we started our family. The GTI was a perfect car. But the GT was the only car I ever regretted selling. So I ended up buying another one with the 24 I own now.

As of now, Golf R is my leading contender. I found a blue ‘24 with 16k mi at a Ford dealer a few hrs away from me and will reach out to them this weekend

Imo not an all bad hot hatch however by time it’s paid off you could have had a truck. 😉

I’ll take a hatch over a truck in my garage (almost) every time 🐌 💨
One other consideration is that with the Golf I will still be able to take it to an occasional, albeit expectedly rare, track day and stick out much less than if I showed up with a pickup lol
