If you wanna get technical about it, Since the PD blowers are single stage compressors, The correct term is called Aftercooling ...

Intercooling
is when you cool the air charge between multiple compression stages, and the last stage is still called Aftercooling.

None of the vendors we are talking about call it an aftercooler.
Yes, but now we can drive everybody crazy on the forum by insisting upon it.

It's just simpler to go with the flow, What's even worse is those same gear heads calling an ICE a Motor.

You know the ones that'll ask Ya', "Hey Bubba Whut sized Motor ya' got in that thang?"

I live in the AZ desert and plan to install a Whipple. I don’t plan on racing it competitively but our summers do get hot! Is the HD HE necessary for street use?
Simple answer to your question - Not required but highly recommended.

My advice is go with a HD heat exchanger. If you go the Whipple route there is an option to upgrade to the HD heat exchanger during order placement. Not sure if Roush offers this option.

My Mustang has the PP option. Performance Pack optioned Mustangs include an oil cooler and a higher capacity radiator (plus more). I have not experienced overheating with the standard Whipple heat exchanger. With engine longevity in mind I decided to order the HD Race Heat Exchanger & dual Bosch pump upgrade from Whipple which I now have in hand. I will be installing this winter while my Mustang is garaged until apring arrives.

Have you taken delivery of the Mustang you intend to SC? I'm asking because your signature indicates an upcominhg order for a 2025. If your signature is accurate I think a PP optioned Mustang is worth considering due the extra cooling it provides.

SC cooling can never be overdone. Lowering temps on a SC cooling system has benefits beyond performance gains - Engine longevity is a huge plus.

I have not ordered yet. Finalizing options and getting quotes now. Hoping to submit the order in the next 4-6 weeks. The PP is at the top of the option list!

Adding to my earlier post... The PP package includes much more than the cooling upgrades. A quick Google search will provide details of what the PP option includes.

The PP option in my mind gets a bad reputation as not worthy of the asking price. No middleground seems to exist between camps.

yeah, I agree. For me it’s a no-brainer.
