I've been reading over on the F150 Forums: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...talled-when-parts-are-available.13767/page-24

The folks over there figured out that the IPMA does not have a required LIN chip to enable 8 or 12 channel sensor inputs for additional parking sensors on some COVID de-contented trucks.

I searched through the Ford Service Info site (I paid for a subscription) and discovered that most vehicles I checked utilized an extremely similar IPMA, with a small selection below:

2024 Ford Escape IPMA Part Number
RJ6T-14G647-EDB
VIN: 1FMCU9PA8RUB52906

2025 Ford Explorer IPMA Part Number
RB5T-14G647-FHK
VIN: 1FMWK8GC7SGA2820

2024 Ford Mustang IPMA Part Number
PR3T-14G647-BBJ
VIN: 1FA6P8THXR5108850

The other vehicles DO have the Front Parking Aid enabled, and when I checked their as-built data against LivinItUp's spreadsheet, the correct addresses appear to be changed and indicate the presence of an 8CH sensor input via LIN.

My question is:

Can we do a similar IPMA swap for a vehicle that DOES have an 8CH LIN input for these additional sensors?
  • Possibly de-pin & re-pin connector C3676A (will attach wire diagram) to match ground/VRef/LIN channels for donor module
  • Create wire harness for correct front-facing ultrasonic sensors
  • Add ground/VRef/LIN channels for additional sensors to connector C3676A
  • Update module programming/firmware for "new" module via FDRS
  • Update IPMA, BCM, and APIM to reflect as-built updates via FORScan

I have already add it. I am struggling that I have no sound from Front Sensors but Visualize works fine.

Hi!

Could you add some more details about what hardware changes you had to do?

I'm curious what you added, what connectors you had to re-pin, whatever details you could share!

I assume that the rear sound alerts still work with the new configuration? If so, it may very well just be a software change in FORSCAN.

Thanks for responding.

Sensors and front wire and sensors from Escape 2023+ + wiring from bumper into cabin to IPMA - 6 wires.
Config and thats all.

WOW that is amazing, and thanks for responding. If you don't mind, I'd like a few more details, and to discuss what you changed in Forscan.

I'm trying to make a list of parts:

  • Either this: Wire Harness - Ford (PZ1Z-15K867-E)
    • with fog lamps, with auto park
  • Or this: Wire Harness - Ford (PZ1Z-15K867-A)
    • without fog lamps, with auto park
  • Sensor - Ford (KU5Z-15K859-AAPTM)
    • quantity of 4
  • Sensor Inner Bracket - Ford (LJ6Z-15A862-ABPTM)
    • left, quantity of 2
  • Sensor Inner Bracket - Ford (LJ6Z-15A862-AAPTM)
    • right, quantity 2
  • IPMA??

As for the wires you added and what connectors you changed, can you detail what exactly you did? I assume there is power, ground, and a network/LIN wire for each new sensor.

I assume you used the LIN bus - did you use the existing IPMA to add these sensors, because I did not see the additional LIN input pins needed on the existing IPMA.

What pins did you populate/add for the new sensors?

As for the sound not working:

I assume this is a Forscan module configuration issue.

What addresses did you change?

I figured it would be setup as the following in the US market, EU would be slightly different:
706-02-01 (IPMA):
Bit position123456789101112
old value6A67000001E2
new value6A69000041XX
option descriptionTSR=FusionOn
LKSS=Non_EuNCAP
MK=Not Used
FCDPACWRC=Absent
LPM=enabled
PAD=enabled
PAT=Eight_ch
DAI=enabled
TAI=enabled
PAT is the only option changedLTC=disabled
ROT=disabled
FOT=disabled
P=false
FCP=false
SCP=false
change needed here for front/side/360 cams
RS=off
RCT=none??
TAT=TBA
DLD=disabled
WRCI=disabled
PAC=CH8TVICI=?checksumchecksum

If your audio is not working, have you checked the IPMA address as follows?
7D0-08-01
bit position123456789101112
old valueC040000100E1
new valueD04????2 or 5??XX
option descriptionPDCHMI=ON
SWAS=absolute
FGHMI=OFF
FPAAC=OFF s/b ON
no changeFBA=disable
PDCMC=enable
PA=PA Rear/Front PDCchecksumchecksum

You may also want to look at the IPC:
720-09-02:
bit position12345678
old value2008A1FB
new value???C??XX
option description RBW=enable
FBW=disable, s/b enable
key for above abbreviations:

TSR=traffic sign recognition
LKSS=lane keep system strategy
MK=mykey
FCDPACWRC=unknown, possibly front camera

LPM=Low Power Mode
PAD=Park Assist Display
PAT=Park Assist Type
DAI=Door Ajar Indicator
TAI=Tailgate Ajar Indicator

LTC=long term calibration
ROT=Rear Overlay Type
FOT=Front Overlay Type
P=360 cam present
FCP=Front Camera Present
SCP=Side Cams Present

RS=RearSplit
RCT=Rear Cam Type (should be LVDS? existing asbuilt says none...)
TAT=trailer assist type

DLD=Dirty Lense Detect
WRCI=Wrd Remote Camera Indicator

PAC=Park Assist Channels

TVICI=Top View Icon Color Index

PDCHMI=Park Distance Control HMI (Human Machine Interface = screen)
SWAS=steering wheel angle sensor
FGHMI=flank guard HMI
FPAAC=Front Park Assist Adjustable Chimes

FBA=Front Brake Assist
PDCMC=PDC Mute Control

RBW=Rear Blockage Warning
FBW=Front Blockage Warning

Let me know what you already changed, but I think your best shot at making this work will be to change the bit at address 7D0-08-01 from FPAAC disabled to enabled.

Thanks for your input on the forum!

1. You can use any 2020+ park sensors JU5T-XXXX
2. They are 3 pins - LIN / POWER / GND
3. Each Sensor has LIN pin -> IPMA
4. Each Sensor has POWER and GND - all 4 sensors together to POWER and GND -> IPMA
5. It means You need make own socket near by bumper to connect your new wiring on the bumper and the rest wiring which goes directly to IPMA. I have used Escape rear wiring + sockets.
6. IPMA - Mach-E / Transit / F150 - whatever You use no matter, just take the highest model version which has 8 fakras ( it does support 360 cam view ). I did use the genuine one with some tweaks ;) - that's why I assume I need to find better FW to IPMA or ACM.
7. I use UCDS and I am pretty sure I did enable everything. Thanks for sharing ForScan bits.
In the past I did some mods and keep doing them :) -> https://www.youtube.com/darezik
8. My car is US, not EU.
