True. But can you cut a few lbs's and decrease Whipples 160 lbs down to prochargers 47 lbs?
No, but you are ignoring other factors that reduce that difference to a smaller number than 160-47. The Whipple will be heavier, but not that much heavier when all is installed.

How so? Just keep in mind how Mustang drivers turn into spoiled princesses when weight is added to the Mustang. They kvetch like the mother on Big Bang theory.

I cannot comment on your insults and such, but the shipping weight is not the same as what is installed, and items are removed to install the Whipple supercharger that are not removed to install the Vortech supercharger, so the weight ends up being something less than 160 pounds (although nowhere near 47 pounds0. It has been posted about here on the forum previously. My only point here is that claiming 160 pounds is an exaggeration.

I found another post in which the guy estimated the difference at 100 pounds all said and done, but I could not link it because the site is acting wonky. I barely got back into the thread.

Anyway, 100 pounds is still significant, obviously, but it is only 62.5% of 160, and that is a significant percentage difference. I bet if your next paycheck was only 62.5% of your prior one, you would notice.

But, yeah, 100 pounds on an already heavy car is a lot. <-- not crying princess tears. Just stating an opinion.

160 was what I was told.

Nice and less stress on an engine than a supercharger?
They are more stress, not only do you have the boost NBD, but you have the head unit off to the side and on an external pulley side loading the crank.

They don’t call pro chargers crank snappers for no reason… turbo or whipple.

What happens when parts break in the Whipple?

No clue, I’ve only seen snapped cranks over the years

When parts fall into the engine, a new one, plus SC, will be needed. But you can use the original intake on the Dark Horse replacement engine from LMR. Right under $7,000.

Oh, yeah, I get it. 100%. Because that is the shipping weight. But you take some things out of the car to put that in the car.

I do not personally know what the exact weight added to the car is. I just know what has been posted here.

I've heard that the gains from a procharger are better under high rpm. Does that mean when you rev out, say 1st 2nd 3rd gear you would see a big increase when you are above 5k rpm?
Sort of, it acts more like a turbo, sort of. Where as the twin and centrifugal hit hard right away

I hear when you get on the freeway on ramp it kicks in when you're ready to enter the freeway. This is why 4.10s are popular with these types of SCs. I hear they come on after 3k RPM, and are known to overtake cars on the top end. Since I have an A10 a 4.10 is not really needed.
