I searched the forum and found 0 posts discussing gas additives. Is this a no, no in a Coyote engine? Does anyone use, or recommend an additive for the 2024 GT Coyote? Thanks, Glenn

Octane boosters are quite commonly used on the dyno particularly on supercharged cars

What kind of additives?

Most people will recommend a fuel system treatment like Techron or whatever brand you like, as long as it contains polyether amine (PEA)

Many people will also say if you run gasoline that contains the proper additive packages, you don't need to add a separate fuel treatment.

Totally normal if you’re boosted, not needed if your N/A

goes back to adding a bottle of torco back in the 03 cobra days, basically boosted cars on 93 SHOULD be using octane booster.
Used it on my 2011 pro charged GT for like 60k miles. Half bottle every tank *insurance.

@glenng6 ..... I too have a 2024 Mustang GT premium convertible. What makes you think you need a gasoline additive? I can get 91 and 94 where I live. Mine runs perfectly on 91. Can you not get decent gas?

The gas available locally is fine. I prefer using additives in my gas and have always done it. Since I have not had a Coyote engine before, I was curious. When I couldn't find any posts about it I started the thread. I don't have any issues and don't want any, so thought I would get other opinions. I usually do it every 3-4 fill-ups and my fourth will be fairly soon. More in the winter, than the summer. Gotta love the northeast. Thought about it today while raking leaves. 😁 Glenn

Well, you have to be careful what you use. That is, what makes the liquid an octane booster. Some additives can attach themselves to either the porcelain, or more likely, the iridium in the spark plug core. Others, like methanol, are rather corrosive and should never be used in a modern engine.

To most folks, the differences in gasoline relates to its octane rating, with little regard to what gasoline is actually made up of. We all know that most (not all) gasolines have ethyl alcohol added as an octane booster and as an oxygen carrier. Ethylene is supposed to be a good thing for the climate, but it isn't as "clean" as we're being told it is. Other boosters like Tert-Butyl-Alcohol work better (as octane boosters), but still produce other less-than-desirable byproducts when burned.

In any case, it is always best to read the owner's manual before you start using some special-formula to gain that last tenth down the quarter.

@glenng6 ..... we all have our specific approaches to our vehicles. As someone who used to build high performance engines we never added anything that there was not a specific need for. Ford does not call for any additives for this very, very sophisticated engine. Most good brands of gasoline have plenty of additive package components that help the engines run clean. Shell V power is a very good fuel. Other than Stabil for "winter" storage, which helps slow phase separation, we never put additives in our gasolines for normal driving. Racing, real racing, is another matter, but I do not think that is what you are doing. Unless you really know what you are doing I respectfully suggest you don't fool around with additives. @Alan Applegate gives a good overview.

OK. I have routinely used additives for 30-40 years and not had any problems, I am aware of. I didn't have any particular favorite but mostly bought STP. Apparently, additives are coming to an end. I never did it for "boosting performance", it was only to combat the weather we get in the northeast, and keep the fuel system clean. I guess you can teach an old dog, new tricks. Thanks for everyone's input. Glenn

I use Shell Premium 93. Plenty of fantastic additives. Then Exxon then Chevron
