I'll be picking up a new 5.0 if work goes well enough and I'm prioritizing the mods to save the car from itself, namely the air/oil separator and the oil cooler (assuming I don't go with a PP). Well the sep can be removed just click-click before warranty work easily enough but if I buy the cooler from the dealer and have them install it will it be included in the 3/36? I couldn't imagine why not since it's std equip on PP/DH and should really be on the GT's in the first place as they run hot.

Might be a moot point as other mods include a cat delete and maybe 4.10's which if the dealer really wants to be a stickler can bounce coverage over.

The topic of if a dealer will install an item arises from time-to-time. Will the dealer install the part? Most will not.

An excerpt from the 7G Warranty Guide:

"The New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover any damage caused by:
•alterations or modifications of the vehicle, including the body, chassis, electronics or their components, after the vehicle leaves the control of Ford Motor Company"

You can ask, but I doubt the dealer will install the part. I don't see how the part would be included in the factory warranty after-the-fact. While the addition will aid in cooling and better conditions, it's the alternation that goes against the spirit of the guide.

If the dealer agrees to install the part, great. They should provide a general warranty for their labor. You'll have a warranty for that part. If the dealer does state the new part will be included in the factory warranty, I'd ask to get that in writing.

Might be a moot point as other mods include a cat delete and maybe 4.10's...
I feel the cat delete will void any coverage involving the engine, cooling and emissions systems. Possibly the fuel systems and electronics. The 4.10 gears will void coverage of not only the engine, but the entire drivetrain. The gears could even affect coverage of the Supplemental Restraint System as the gear ratio will alter how the car's electronics interpret acceleration and movement.

Taken the changes as a whole, any dealer viewing the car would see it as a vehicle modified for tracking, racing and going beyond what most would be doing with a general purpose, but performance, automobile. "Void.", would be their primary thought process on virtually any claim.

Every situation, every dealer will be different. I would not take the experience of one conversation or one event and attempt to apply that again, even at the same location. One can always ask, but I'd consider the changes made to void warranty coverage for everything except for some areas like corrosion of body panels, leaking weather seals and many recalls.

YMMV.

Attached is the warranty guide.

Thank you for the response.

My last dicey warranty issue was shortly after I bought my 07 GT and second gear got destroyed from trying to shift too quickly with the body-mounted, flex-prone shifter setup those had. My mods at the time did in fact include 4.10's, cat-delete and iirc everything in my signature except the CHE brace and hurst. I also brought it in on drag radials with burnt rubber in the wheel wells. Not the headiest thing I've ever done. Anyway the dealer said since the rail flex was a known issue and there were a lot of similar claims they would cover it, but just once.
