I think I may have made a mistake by going to an open track day for the first time yesterday; I’m hooked! I’ve never been in any car on a track previously, so it was somewhat intimidating at first, but after a few laps I fell in love with it. It was fun learning what the car was capable of and where the limits were. I took my car to the drag strip a few weeks back and enjoyed that, but the track has made me completely lose any interest in drag racing.
The open track day was at The FIRM in Starke, Florida. The car did great in the morning with no issues. In the afternoon on my first session I got an axle temp warning when it got to 300 degrees. I stopped and let the car cool down, then went out again and made it 5 laps before the axle temp getting too high. All other temperatures were good, so it looks like I’ll be adding a differential cooler before the next outing.
I wasn’t worried about lap times, but I found out Dragy had a track app, so I went ahead and hooked it up during the afternoon sessions. It was an absolute blast and I can’t wait to do it again!
