Hello everyone,

I own a Ford Mustang Dark Horse (S650) and I’m planning to replace the factory seats with FIA-approved bucket seats (track-focused setup).

However, I want to do this properly and reversibly, so that I can reinstall the OEM seats later without any permanent damage.

My main concerns are:

  • No airbag / SRS warning lights
  • No damage to OEM seat electronics
  • Full functionality restored when OEM seats are reinstalled (seat heating / ventilation / electronics)

Questions to those with experience:

  1. Has anyone installed FIA bucket seats in an S650 / Dark Horse while keeping the SRS system error-free?
  2. Are there any plug-and-play seat adapters / CAN-bus modules that allow connecting the original seat harness without triggering faults?
  3. How did you handle airbag signals and seat occupancy sensors correctly?
    • OEM modules reused?
    • CAN-bus interface?
    • Coding required?

  4. Is it enough to use resistors/emulators, or does the S650 require proper CAN communication to avoid permanent faults?
  5. Was ECU/SRS coding or calibration needed after the seat swap?

I’m especially interested in solutions that allow reverting back to stock seats without issues.

Any experience, pictures, part numbers, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

I don't know if these are FIA approved or not, or if they're available in Germany, but if it's "yes" to both questions a pair of these would likely solve your issues as they're specifically made to "plug 'n play" in 2024-2026 Mustang GTs and DHs.

" Includes original equipment air bags and OCS sensors"

Good luck with what ever you go with!

I had fixed back fia seats for track days but couldn’t get airbag light to turn off. I was able to remove and replace with original cloth seats afterwards with no issues or dash lights. Getting all the dash lights / airbag warnings removed with fixed back seats would need to be coded out but I don’t know if that’s possible nor do I know how to do that but similarly I would love a solution to that.

Who and where is selling that? I’m thinking about Sparco seats and full cage inside car. I saw on Ford Performance Racing School that all Dark Horses there have such a cage. I write few times PM but without answear. I’m wondering from where I could buy it. Second step will be outside. RTR Spec 5 plus Vulcan Alpha splitter and wing (Check Mischa Charoudin). I would like to participate in Germany in NLS, but everything must be approved by FIA standards.

remember never use this to sell crashed cars without replacing the air bags scummy used car dealers do that

you live in the eu so it may be alot harder to get there they are pretty strict there for safety junk

The 2 Ohm resistor trick didn't keep the airbag light off on my 2022 Mustang when I installed aftermarket seats without air bags. Please keep us posted on your progress.
